There's much to recommend Sakurabana as the perfect downtown lunch stop: quick service, great specials, and terrific sushi. At both lunch and dinner, an extensive menu and large portions don't hurt the cause either. Enjoy steaming miso soup and a round of sashimi for dinner, or enjoy sushi and drinks at the bar. The menu is comprised of sushi, maki, and hot Japanese dishes. All of the sushi and maki is incredibly fresh, and the maki choices range from the standard to the sublime; a good judge of a sushi bar is how fresh their salmon is, and Sakurabana passes the test every time. If you opt for a lunch special, there are several combinations: two maki rolls, miso soup and salad, or miso soup and a variety of sushi, or a teriyaki lunch box with your choice of meat, shumai, miso soup and fruit.
Smart casual dress. Reservations accepted for dinner.

They do serve wonderful food but suffer from dreadful and often times insolent service during rush times. Here are the highlights: - A wait time of up to 30 minutes after your order has been taken is not uncommon. Large and telephone orders receive priority treatment, thus relegating your lowly green curry to the rear of a 10 or 15 entrée order. - If the phone rings, the Patron will ignore you while you order to answer the phone and take another order that will be processed before your own. - Large orders and phone orders take priority meaning you could wait 20 minutes before your order gets processed. Unfortunately, as this is an ever busy restaurant in the financial district, Rock Sugar can afford to provide woeful service as their sales volume is unlikely to suffer from it. As this is not a sit-down restaurant, atmosphere is not relevant.

Max's is great! It's a New York style deli with great food and friendly people. Even though Michael is very grouchy looking he's a businessman getting the job done.
The Osso Bucco (veal stew and mashed potato) is my favorite when I'm really hungry.

The Italian Cafe will give you the best bang for your buck downtown for a good lunch. The proscuitto, basil, tomato, and mozzarella never fails. Lively shop owners and quick turn around.

Just off the Financial District, a quaint corner restaurant featuring a handsome central bar and mahogany booths. Updated retro all the way. A veritable Financial District institution, this place has Sam's-style sandwiches, served in a table-service environment. There is a private room available for functions. Menu is primarily deli sandwich combinations and burgers. Full bar.

Susan's Deli of course features the best selection of sandwiches, wraps and soups under the sun. They have everything you can think of from hummus on a wrap to pastrami on Rye. Service at this busy downtown location can be rushed and you might feel as if you're being overlooked as a customer with specific needs. Prices are reasonable for the area with few sandwiches or meals topping the $10 mark. Open for breakfast as well- they serve up coffee and bagels for the masses.

Sam & Anne is a relative bargain for a financial district lunch. The menu is a bit odd, which its main appeal; the "Meat Loves" [sic] is French bread, roast beef, Thousand Island dressing, and slaw. I'm not sure how this particular Jewish / French / Asian (?) fusion resulted, but is certainly a refreshing break from yet another Chicken Salad. Most of the subs aren't that great, but the calzones are to die for. This place used to be called Jessica's Deli. New name, same menu, same staff.
