A famous watering hole, often featured in live camera shots during crucial Red Sox games. The Cask 'n Flagon is where Red Sox nation gathers to celebrate or commiserate. Recently featured in the Reebok ad that debuted during the 2007 World Series - Donny Wahlberg sat at the bar here, and Bobby Orr walked by too. Those heading to a game can save a few bucks by filling up on the Cask's straightforward bar fare and skipping the ballpark's expensive snacks. The walls are lined with high-definition TVs and photos that depict the histories of Fenway and the Sox. Locals fill the huge wraparound bar that resides in the middle of the main room while keeping an eye on all the sports news via an ever-present sports ticker. The Cask has some of the city's most aggressive bouncers--be on your best behavior.

Boston Beer Works is the oldest brewery/restaurant combo in Boston. They have 3 locations, this one across from Fenway is bustling during baseball season and throughout the year. The beers on tap change weekly. Usually there are several seasonal offerings to go along with a stable of beers, ranging from light to dark. There are alternatives for those not inclined towards the hop-laden brews too. The food is excellent - basic American bar food done right. And what's better than tucking into a burger and a beer? Chowing down right next to the tanks where that beer was made.

Go to a baseball game at Fenway Park, even if you don't know what a “foul ball” is. Fenway remains the most intimate, beautiful ballpark in the league, and it would be a shame if you never saw the original in case it ends up being rebuilt. With 7 World Series titles under their belt, the Red Sox have reclaimed their spot of victory. Perhaps the most legendary baseball team of all time, the Sox had not won a World Series since 1918 until the reversal of the curse in 2004. Boston fans are the most avid in all sports, and the Red Sox had set that precedent even back in 1901 when they were called the Boston Americans. If you are lucky enough to come by a ticket these days, go to a game. It will be one of the most fun things that you will do all year.

Hotel Buckminster dates to the early years of Kenmore Square being created (1897) and the architect of this building was Stanford White (of the girl on the red velvet swing fame). There are 200 rooms in this hotel - which was restored in the 1990s after suffering its way through the 1980s.

The hotel was the site of the first network radio broadcast. In 1929 WNAC Radio had its studios on the upper floors (we know it as WRKO today). The had a TV and radio station in this building through the 1960s. In the 1940s part of the hotel was taken over by the military and then for a while it was a college dorm.

Mauluken is karaoke headquarters in Kenmore Square, the restaurant offers it nightly from 9pm until 1am. Serving a wide range of Japanese food and offering take-out Maluken is a good spot for lunch or dinner. But it's not until later that the action really gets started.

A McDonald's is a McDonald's no matter where you go in this country. You can expect your service to be quick and somewhat apathetic. The cheeseburger is not going to taste better than the last one you had. Upside: Free Wifi, although I suggest this be your last resort for a quite sit down place to study with your laptop.

WEEI is the radio voice of the Boston Red Sox. Their studio fronts onto Lansdowne Street. So if you can't get tickets, you can stand on the street listening to your radio and watching the guys call the game through the big windows.

Eastern Standard serves breakfast, lunch and dinner. It caters to hotel guests, locals and Red Sox fans. A popular place to dine before a Red Sox game, Eastern Standard is a popular destination post game as well. Whether you are there for a delicious brasserie experience or saddling up to the bar to enjoy the extensive cocktail list, Eastern Standard does not disappoint. Voted Best of Boston for Group dining as well. Fair warning: can be loud at the bar after the Sox get out!
A real French brasserie is kind of like the equivalent of an American steak house/comfort food joint: croque monsieurs, onion soup, a huge plate of oysters, crabs legs, and other seafood tasties, wash it down with a flute of champagne or a nice glass of belgian ale. It's high minded, delicious, slightly decadent without feeling like you've gorged on a side of creamed spinach.
