This upscale, European-style restaurant and lounge is in the heart of Boston's Financial District. Starters include lobster bisque and macaroni fritters. The International Restaurant & Pub boasts a top-notch dinner menu with filet mignon, lamp chops and roasted duck cooked to perfection. Recently, the spot was closed for renovations. A decent place for lunch in the Financial District. Their sandwiches are positively HUGE. They're fine, nothing bad but nothing that will send you running to try them. Their salads are great, not the usual thing but kind of different like a pasta salad, a couscous salad with feta (yummmmmm), a salad with a mix of eggplant, olives, celery, raisins and pine nuts, a basil with chicken and string bean salad, etc. The pizza slices are good, sicilian and NYC style. Keep in mind that most of the places in the Financial District start to close down around 3pm after the lunch crowd, and you will be hard pressed to find much food around. They DO start cleaning up here around 2:30pm and they will barely acknowledge your presence, so if you're not here early just forget about it.

I would like to give a little history about O! Deli. It is a little family owned shop that use to be at 200 High Street. It was the best place around to get a sandwich with daily specials like Monday you could get a meatball sub, or Thursday you could get a chicken parm. (my favorite). The husband and wife worked there side by side with the help of another woman and on school break you would see the kids there too. A while back another small lunch place opened at 190 High St. called Just Lunch. This guy used to drive down every day from ME. He sold pizza, calzones and subs for 5.75 with a soda and chips. Then came the evil corporation, Panera. O! Deli's landlord didn't resign with them or was charging too much. So Panera got the corner location and O! Deli was with out a home. At some point the Just lunch guy and O! Deli family got together and O! Deli took over the Just Lunch space and some of the menu items. This was a disaster at the beginning. Needless to say, it has improved a lot since it's rocky "O! Lunch" rebirth. Now it's hit its stride and is as awesome as it was before. Also, the staff is super warm and friendly. They always have a smile and their customer service is second-to-none.

Panera is a bakery-cafe with several locations around Boston.

Popular hangout with the business crowd, Brandy Pete’s serves up deli sandwiches and American staples like hamburgers, subs, salads and roast beef. Open since 1933, this pub also boasts a stellar selection of beers and pub grub like fried calamari. During the summer, they open up their doors and offer outdoor seating—a definite Financial District hotspot during lunch. Great place to wine and dine potential clients in a welcoming and comfortable environment.

This is the place to go for breakfast sandwiches in the financial district. It is normal quiet in the morning so if you haven't been in there before try it out then. Service is fast and organized at the busy Financial District Suits lunch hour. Seating is limited, just 3 high top tables with 4 chairs each but it seemed like most people were carrying out anyway so it wasn't a huge struggle for seating. Just don't get intimidated! I think that the staff here watched the Soup Nazi episode of Seinfeld one too many times... some people won't even walk through the door because they're so scared of the sandwich order taker guy!

Not so good for the sushi. Every time I go to a real sushi place, I am reminded of just how crappy the sushi at Jane's really is. Sushi grade fish is not supposed to be chewy, and the rice is not supposed to fall out of the rolls...well, at all, let alone that easily. Rest assured, the folks in the back did not cut their culinary teeth on the bars of Tokyo's finest sushi establishments. That being said, Jane's has a really good salad bar with all the typical items- lettuce, tomato, cukes, peppers etc but it also has seeds, nuts, and fruit. While most of the day Jane's is a standard buffet, after 3:00 PM, everything becomes half off and it then becomes a much more affordable option. The price goes from a little over $5/lb to just about $2.50/lb.
