Tucked away on a beautiful Beacon Hill sidestreet, Lala Rokh offers an inspiring cultural tour of Persian cuisine and tranquil intimacy. The series of small dining spaces make the dining experience wonderfully private as the knowledgeable, unobtrusive waitstaff present plates of curries, meats, and vegetables seasoned with specially-imported spices. Arouse the taste buds with the Kashk-E Bademjan (roast eggplant with goat's milk; $7) before preceding on to the demure but filling Abgusht (lamb shank; $18) or Morgh (saffron dark chicken; $15). You still won't want to leave enchanting LaLa Rokh, so savor the gentle desserts like the baklava ($6) and creme caramel ($7) as you linger for hours.

The Beacon Hill Bistro is a French and American restaurant in the Beacon Hill Hotel. For breakfast and lunch, the cuisine is Nouveau American while the dinner menu is unmistakably French with a focus on les fruit de mers. The wait staff is friendly and courteous and very helpful with the menu. Although the ambiance is good, guests sometimes find the decor heavy and the seating cramped, especially when the restaurant is busy and when large groups are involved. However, when empty on a weekday morning, the restaurant’s robust trimmings make the dining experience cozier.
Given its setting and choice of cuisine, individual reactions have varied. Read detailed reviews. But most agree that this is one of those lovely restaurants that make Boston a favorite city for dining.
Some highlights on the menu are the Artichoke Soup, Roasted Lamb Loin, and Coconut Mousse with Passion Fruit Sorbet and Lemongrass Basil Syrup. Though recommendations are to stick with the relatively standard seafood and meat entrees and stay away from inventive combinations such as the Stuffed Rabbit Loin with Pumpkin Risotto to avoid disappointment. The wine list is organized by price, easy to navigate, and there are a lot of good wines so you can't go wrong. To add, the restaurant has a full bar with an apt selection of aperitifs, spirits and liqueurs, so if you want to begin with a Campari and end with a nice single malt you won't be displeased.
The restaurant is on the expensive side but serves as an ideal option for corporate dining and/or special events. However, despite some of its non-standard concoctions, the prices are never exorbitant as each entree is priced in the mid-twenties.
In terms of location, the restaurant is a stone's throw from the Beacon Street side of Boston Common - close to the Common’s parking lot and the Park Street T-stop, but probably equidistant to the Charles Street T-stop, which is also on the Red Line.

In the heart of Beacon Hill lies one of Boston's few Tuscan restaurants. They say they keep their regulars by changing the menu seasonally. Regardless of your timing, you can always find some gems, and appetizers are typically delicious. This snug restaurant can make any evening an intimate one. Entrees $18-39.

The Theatre District Mediterranean restaurant also features a great after-work bar. Portuguese, French, Spanish and Greek influences mingle with a little pasta and steak. Created by Davio's owner Steve DiFillippo, the top-tier décor at Avila sets the tone for a spectacular dining experience. Try the lamb souvlaki from Greece or the salt cod fritters from Spain or the onion soup from France. Also great for a quiet, and very tasty weekend brunch.

Housed in the old site of Torch, Bin 26 is a new Italian wine bar and tapas joint in Beacon Hill. This newish addition (opened in Fall of 2006) presents their customers with a new twist on fun and casual dining. This local favorite vows to use the freshest and most local ingredients in order to support local farmers, butchers, and sailors. With a wine list of hundreds and extensive list for just by the glass, the variety is extensive from sparkling to deep and earthy reds. However, it is important to note that the restaurant license mandates that all guests order some food, even if it's only a wedge of cheese or slices of charcuterie, in order to consume alcohol. The proprietors, Azita Bina-Seibel and Babak Bina, also own Lala Rokh, Bina Alimentari, and Bina Osteria around town. The arrival of Bin 26 has heralded great press for the brother and sister restaurateurs. Everyone from Rachel Ray to Food and Wine has swung into this Charles Street hotspot to enjoy a glass of wine and the scene.

75 Chestnut went through a major renovation this past year. Long gone is the stuffy restaurant that you would go to with your grandparents. 75 Chestnut now has switched the entire restaurant to be a more open and upscale neighborhood tavern. A great place to go for just a drink, or one of the best burgers in town. This place is the baby of Tom Kershaw, owner of Cheers and the Hampshire House.
Halloween fun: Friday October 31, 2008 Beginning at 5 pm and ending at last call, 75 Chestnut will be serving ghoulish drinks, and having a costume party for all of their patrons to attend.
