Mark keeps his stylists up-to-date with classes every Tuesday night. The decor is a little outdated, with a "retro" Barbie picture adorning the back wall, but Mark Giuliano's friendly eyes will invite you into his salon. Be specific with your requests for hairdos--- pictures and vivid descriptions will help the stylists understand your request. Also, make sure you get an estimate on the price before they start- junior stylist tend to be just as expensive and with less experience (and will add conditioning treatments to the price when you didn't even ask grrrrrr....). Bottomline: Mark knows hair- and if you can't get him, don't ask for a junior stylist- just wait.

What is your idea of a perfect day? If it includes a being pampered and petted, hydrated and honeyed, then you are in luck: Emerge is here to make sure that you can be the best that you can be. This spa caters to men and women and has a myriad of services available from detox sessions to facials to juice bars. High rollers relax in exclusive VIP suites, and there's a classic Men's Club where clients can enjoy warm-lather shaves while watching a flat-screen TV. Don't forget the secluded rooftop garden. Take a break from your life and you will "emerge" a much better person. Pardon the pun. Tip: the staff at the front desk can be extremely rude, but if you can get past that you will have a great experience. Consider it a rite of initiation.

At this “Upscale but Down-to-Earth” salon, attentive stylists whip up everything from the latest trends to more classic cuts, according to the preferences of their diverse clientele (haircuts $40+, full highlights $100+). They also make their own line of hair ($9-19) and make-up ($12-25) products, like a nourishing organic soy protein conditioner. Glam up with a group of friends at “Powdah Puff Parties,” where you can experiment with their make-up, aided by an expert ($30 per person). Appointments recommended, but walk-ins accepted.
