It may be drab, but Steve's cooks some of the heartiest and most authentic Greek fare in Boston. Unusual items like kleftiko, lamb wrapped in grape leaves and baked in metaxa brandy ($13), add some flair to traditional main courses ($7-13) and appetizers ($5-10) such as tsatziki (a cucumber, yogurt, and garlic dip) and kebabs. But, as the happy crowds can testify, even the standards—gyros ($5.25), pastichio ($9.25), and souvlaki ($5.25)—are well-seasoned and delicious at Steve's. Always crowded with Bostonians, Charles makes a mean burger (for a small $10) and a brunch menu that will impress your mother-in-law (some items have a spirited drink included). In the summer, there are long waits for the patio selection, but the inside atmosphere can't be beat. Dark wood work incapsulates the insides, and a small hint of "saloon" with the famous snottiness of Newbury- this place is wunderbar!
