Floyd's is a large location rock n roll themed barbershop on Mass Ave. Don't be fooled by their name, they provide a traditional offering of hair cutting, barbering, and color services to both men and women. The first of its kind in Boston, Floyd's boasts a massaging shampoo and relaxing shoulder and neck massage with all services, in addition to signature hot lather face and neck shaves and professional color services.
The prices aren't advertised too clearly so if you have questions, ask before you sit down. Also ask about student discounts - sometimes you can get a 25$ cut! They don't really take appointments, but you can call in 30 minutes before you show up to put your name down for the stylist you want (recommended, though sometimes there's a wait). And don't forget you can make requests for the music they play, and there's both internet kiosks and free wifi available while you're waiting.
Hours: Monday – Friday 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., Saturday 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., and Sunday 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

A hidden gem amidst bustling Newbury Street comes a bookstore that calls itself “Boston's alternative". This diner-style restaurant draws rave reviews from students and families alike. You can cozy up in any corner and peruse the variety of books, magazines, and interesting knickknacks, or munch on Trident's munchies like classic salads ($8-14), sandwiches ($9-11), coffee, smoothies ($4). They have a great selection of loose teas ($2.50-$3.50) and serve breakfast all day (omelettes $7+). The staff will take a book off the rack for you and let you take it into the cafe. This quiet spot to sit back, chill out, and enjoy, is the perfect break from the craziness of Newbury. They also have a public restroom: on the right, halfway down the store.

The Boston Architectural College (BAC) is an independent, professional college located in Boston's Back Bay, offering bachelor's and master's degrees in architecture, interior design, landscape architecture, and design studies.

Founded in the 1880s as a club for architects in the Boston area, the BAC has maintained close ties to the professional design community throughout its history. These ties are evident today in the BAC's faculty of practicing professionals, many of whom volunteer their time at the College, and in the BAC's commitment to concurrent academic and practice-based curricula as the cornerstone of a design education. The mahogany bar serves the best martinis in town from an experienced lot of friendly bartenders and the brick-oven chums out eclectic pizzas and focaccia throughout the day.It is easy to relax at Sonsie and enjoy the classic music that reflects the ambience of the restaurant as day progresses into night.

New at Sonsie, located on the lower level, the Wine Room is the perfect location to enjoy your favorite bottle of wine, cocktail, and sample the menu from Chef Bill Poirier. Open Monday thru Saturday from 6pm to 1 am. 2006 Best of Boston Award Winner.
Part Parisian cafe, part elegant dining experience, Sonsie is an upscale hipster joint located, appropriately enough, on Newbury St. Sonsie sets off your pretension alarms from the moment you enter its dim, orange waiting area, complete with cushy sofas. The deep, fancy dining room allows parties to converse comfortably at mealtimes, while those just taking a shopping break for drinks or “lighter fare” crowd around oval tables in front of huge windows opening onto the street in warmer weather. The menu offers a few varieties of brick oven pizzas ($9-21), pasta ($15), and entrees including seared tuna ($25) and the American standard, a 16-oz. steak ($32). Save room for desserts like chocolate bread pudding ($8), and then enjoy unusual cocktails such as iced chai ($10.50) at the bar. Valet parking after 6pm. Entrees $17-32. Reservations recommended. Wireless internet.

Boston:Image:Espresso Royale Caffe

Cozy, comfortable coffee shop with outdoor tables. The granola-ie servers make noteworthy tea bags by hand (the berry blend is delish). Espresso Royale serves up tasty bagels, on a first come first serve basis- so hurry not to miss your favorite flavor. Vegetarian friendly- but no alcohol is served at this location. Also, the seating is fast to go- and often filled with a graphic design artist improving his/her lastest creation on their Apple, or a liberal policital activist whispering about the '08 election. It's always a treat to see who your caffienated neighbor is talking about..
