Housed in the old location of Pizza Oggi, Lobby Bar & Kitchen is a sleek and modern new addition to the increasing number of new hot spots in the Financial District. The designers of City Bar at the Lenox hotel created a sleek spot designed for lunch and after work drinks for the office drones occupying the neighborhood during the day, and open for dinner and cocktails as well.

This Faneuil Hall haunt is a dive, but that’s OK if you’re looking for a no-frills alternative to the swanky eateries and nightspots littering this tourist friendly area. With a good selection of brews and a decent offering of pub grub, the Ames Plow Tavern is a throwback to the old-time bars of Boston’s past.

“Everybody knows your name,” but nobody knows how to tell the tourists that this overpriced restaurant-cum-souvenir-shop is a waste of their time and money. Savor the cheesy atmosphere, because the food leaves a bit to be desired—unless you're searching for your average, greasy bar food at slightly inflated prices (burgers and sandwiches $9-13; Giant Norm Burger $15). Extensive beer (12 drafts, pints $5) and mixed drink selection. Entrees $7-18.

“Everybody knows your name,” but nobody knows how to tell the tourists that this overpriced restaurant-cum-souvenir-shop is a waste of their time and money. This restaurant offshoot is inspired by the TV show's former Red Sox pitcher turned owner, Sam Malone (played by Ted Danson). Savor the cheesy atmosphere, because the food leaves a bit to be desired—unless you're searching for your average, greasy bar food at slightly inflated prices (burgers and sandwiches $9-13; Giant Norm Burger $15). The Meritage Restaurant boasts one of the best views in all of Boston on the harbor. The decor is upscale and sophisticated. The service is tremendous. Each dish was presented beautifully and cooked to perfection. One of the best meals in Boston, but pricey. Try the martini with blue cheese-stuffed olive, it's fantastic.
Meritage is the culmination of Chef Daniel Bruce’s 13 years a chef for the Boston Wine Festival where he pairs more than 200 dishes each year with outstanding wines from around the world.
Tip: One benefit of dressing up for Meritage is appearing more huffy and stuffy than you really are, enabling you to crash high-class company parties at the top-notch downstairs bar.

Popular hangout with the business crowd, Brandy Pete’s serves up deli sandwiches and American staples like hamburgers, subs, salads and roast beef. Open since 1933, this pub also boasts a stellar selection of beers and pub grub like fried calamari. During the summer, they open up their doors and offer outdoor seating—a definite Financial District hotspot during lunch. Great place to wine and dine potential clients in a welcoming and comfortable environment.

While the origin of Durgin-Park goes back to Revolutionary days, the era of fame for its chowders, Indian puddings, apple pan dowdy, johnny cake, and New England boiled dinners started some 130 years ago when John Durgin, in partnership with Eldridge Park, a livery man, and John G. Chandler, a dry goods merchant, took over. There's something homey even though it is in the middle of 1000 tourists. The food is 100% New England comfort food.
