Although the store is hardly crowded, its a head scratcher to why there is the beefed up security at Intermix. There is a always a security guard at the door to keep an eye on the inventory. To it's defense, Intermix does have pricey uber-trendsetting clothing.

Uber-trendy fashions for the fashion forward lover or Euro-ness. Funky necklines, accent buttons/zippers, and other essential euro-fashions make this boutique a main-stay on the fashion curcuit.

Distinctive women's clothing, often describes as high-end European fashion. This store is all about personal experience. From the moment you enter the door, they will already have a couple key items that will fit your body type and face.

Really offbeat, funky clothing store from downtown LA. With very little patterns, this clothing store sells items like pants with footsies, shiny silver leotards, and bright blue leg warmers. They tend to stay in the primary color scheme, and can incorporate the golds, silvers, and greys into their look. TMixed in with the funky pieces, you can also find great very simple sweaters, shirts, and other staples that can be considered "preppy". The advertising is very mode- featuring stoic looking models with dark circles bored as they look beyond the camera. Or, the poses will be over-the-top sexual, almost bordering on humorous (but they are trying, it's not a synical look at them, promise!)- as a girl in tights and a leotard sticks her backside in the camera. Replacing Armani Cafe, Zara is a women's and men's fashion store that officially opened its doors in March 2008. Specializing in European-style clothing and footwear, the new Zara store on Newbury Street is basically an upscale H&M. Famous for its flagship stores in Montreal, Italy and NYC (see the YouTube video below for more info), the Back Bay store has three levels (two floors dedicated to women's clothing, one for men with a stylish kids section on the second floor).

Whimsical and funky/chic clothing make this well-established designer a treat on Newbury. Hippy and free spirited, Nanette started her love of fashion at the early age of 9 in Mid-America, then went on to become on of the beloved designers in New York City. Hints of her free spirt can be seen in her clothing, but mostly it's just dolled-up girly (but sophisticated) fun clothing that will have everyone ask "where did you get that cute dress?". The price tag is high, but well worth every cent (so around $200 and up).
