Atop a glass-roofed fitness club, this restaurant-cafe and 2 bars cater to the area's “guppie” (gay-yuppie) crowd. Familiars will know that the “club” monicker is deceiving: Club Cafe is more restaurant than bar, and certainly not so much club, making it a good place to actually have conversations. The fun, chic video bar features a VJ on weekend nights, drawing both young and old, and though no dancing goes on, the trendy techno music makes Club Cafe a great pre-game stop before you hit up Machine or The Estate. A piano bar entertains those with more subdued tastes, and W karaoke caters to those who'd rather make music than listen. Weekday lunch is popular, as is Su brunch ($15). Beer $3-3.50, mixed drinks $4-5. Casual. Voted best Gay and Lesbian nightspot.

Rise is Boston's only true afterhours dance club; the proprietors engaged the city in a dialogue for years before getting a permit to open as a members only private club, which it remains to this day (though, it is easy enough to get membership or admission on a specific night by contacting people there). They host world class DJs every weekend, covering all of the styles from classic house to edgier, more en vogue European minimal techno. They also host a fair few more gay leaning parties with popular circuit DJs. This is a late night hedon's delight, with a stellar, booming soundsystem and a lively, mixed crowd that boogies down until after sunrise.

You wouldn't know that a nightclub is located in Bay Village, but once venturing down Broadway Street, you see Jacque's Cabaret. Jacques Cabaret is a "female impersonation" nightclub, a.k.a. a drag club. There are shows every day of the week, featuring things such as "all asian qeer cabaret," "delightful divas" and "Jacques angels." In the broad daylight, you wouldn't know that this place could be hopping, but once night falls, make sure to get your drag on! Note: you do not need to be a drag queen to attend! Men and Women alike can attend the show, however this is a primarily gay bar. NO CREDIT CARDS ACCEPTED!
