Luxury Italian linen purveyor Frette extends its long legacy to Boston, officially opening the doors of its flagship New England shop in October. Frette, offering bath towels, bed linens, robes and home accessories, is located at the base of the The Mandarin Oriental Hotel. The stunning 2,776 square feet of showroom space extends the brand's 150-year-old legacy of high-end warmth and refinement. Designed by Randall A. Ridless, the showroom features walnut flooring, thickly textured carpeting and natural stone elements to offset polished plaster and lacquered walls.

This multilevel Crate & Barrel is one of the largest in Boston for such a prestiges location. The store features quality kitchen ware, decorations/accents, and furniture. They often carry designer cook's baking mixes (think Paula Dean or Barefoot Contessa's Ina Garten). When you're not browsing for yourself, this makes a great gift for just about anyone (grandparents, parents, wedding gift cards, college send offs). Check the sales sections for some really fabulous deals on glasses and other items. The styles are normally simple and the quality is there.
Public restroom: At the back of the second floor.

Bohemian-cool meets French countryside chic in the girlie-girl paradise of Anthropologie. From floral dresses and exquisite jewelry to cheery housewares and vintage-style furniture, every item here is timeless and unique—a perfect place for gift-hunting. Intricate embroidery and bold prints add to the appeal. But quality comes at an (often steep) price (t-shirts $40+, toiletries $10-20, skirts $70-180, jewelry $38-180). Sales racks on the third floor offer more affordable items without sacrificing the Amelie-esque cuteness.

If your children's clothing budget is growing as fast as your kids, consider visiting the Children's Orchard. A re-sale clothing
franchise, it carries gently-worn, reasonably-priced clothing for newborns to size 16, and a wide selection of new clothing, accessories, toys, and equipment.
You'll find it easy to shop here. The store is well-organized and the selection is generally very good. Occasionally shoppers will find some new clothing mixed in with the old. Toys are often for sale too.

This newly opened Apple computer shop boasts a three-floor glass storefront topped with a six-foot illuminated Apple logo. What is most innovative about this Apple retail outlet is the third floor--a green friendly space, capped by a massive skylight and a panoramic view of the Prudential Center. The roof also sports a grass garden where employees can periodically sit and chat.

Best Cellars sells smart wine for a reasonable price. If you know what kind of wine you like (white-sweet, bubbly, red-bold etc.) then they have a clearly labeled section for you. They often pair with restaurants for free samples and wine tastings. If you aren't' an avid wine follower, just ask the well-versed staff.
