Hungry diners will find a wide variety of thick, creamy "chowdahs," broiled and fried fish dishes, a raw bar, salads, and more. Many people dine here for a "crack" at the lobster (look who's wearing a bib now!).
Legal's offers a children's menu with standards like hot dogs, cheeseburgers, and the like. Here, however, you can also offer your kids a fish platter ($8.95) or fish sticks. They're much better than Mrs. Paul's! Drinks are $1.25 extra, and comes in a great cup you can take home and use again. Kids are also kept busy with crayons and an activity coloring book.

While the origin of Durgin-Park goes back to Revolutionary days, the era of fame for its chowders, Indian puddings, apple pan dowdy, johnny cake, and New England boiled dinners started some 130 years ago when John Durgin, in partnership with Eldridge Park, a livery man, and John G. Chandler, a dry goods merchant, took over. There's something homey even though it is in the middle of 1000 tourists. The food is 100% New England comfort food.

A crowd of young professionals served by young professional waiters fills the outdoor bar-patio of this waterfront restaurant. Not surprisingly, Tia's menu features seafood, although strict carnivores can enjoy landfood and vegetarians can feast on gardenfood. The clientele and atmosphere border on swanky, but the excellent fresh seafood (particularly the $19 lobster special) and the cheerful, attentive service will make you forget the recruiting-like atmosphere. Voted Best Outdoor Drinking by Boston Magazine, Tia's also accommodates private parties of all sizes.
