UPDATE: The Tannery, a high-end clothing shop, is slotted to open at 711 Boylston sometime in 2009. Restoration Hardware unfortunately closed its doors in the Back Bay on May 17, 2008. However, the Restoration Hardware location in the Atrium Mall remains open.

This multilevel Crate & Barrel is one of the largest in Boston for such a prestiges location. The store features quality kitchen ware, decorations/accents, and furniture. They often carry designer cook's baking mixes (think Paula Dean or Barefoot Contessa's Ina Garten). When you're not browsing for yourself, this makes a great gift for just about anyone (grandparents, parents, wedding gift cards, college send offs). Check the sales sections for some really fabulous deals on glasses and other items. The styles are normally simple and the quality is there.
Public restroom: At the back of the second floor.

European beauty mavens have been raving about this upscale “soapermarket” for years, and it's about time we trend-starved Bostonians got a piece of the action. Lush looks almost like a fruit stand, with scrubs, bubbles, bath bombs, and chunks of handmade soap artfully heaped against chalkboard signs. The soaps, subtly blended with essences of fruits, spices, vegetables, and minerals, are sold by the pound ($27+/lb). Travelers swear by Lush's shampoo bars ($8-9), which come in handy tins and fit in your pocket—perfect for those who just can't leave home without a pocket full of shampoo.

Newbury Comics is an independently owned retailer specializing in music, movies and pop culture goods. Our experience comes from over 25 years of alternative retailing through our twenty-seven New England based store locations (click here for locations). Owned and operated by its original founders, Newbury Comics is run with a consistent guiding force that has always championed new ideas, experimentation and alternative vision over monolithic corporate structure.

The legacy Newbury Comics, Inc. has built relies on the following:

  • Scouring the globe for interesting and thought provoking merchandise and constantly adding new products to our selection in order to give customers more of what they want in a one-stop-shopping experience.
  • In a world increasingly dominated by big box mass merchant retailers, we support independent artists and cultural visionaries and realize the importance of offering pop culture that amuses, entertains and/or challenges our customers’ perceptions of the world.
  • Our customers are our livelihood, and therefore we strive to offer exceptional customer service.
  • Company practices based on: trust, respect, and offering quality goods and services.

Agent Provocateur unveiled its controversial new window display on Newbury Street and let's say heads will be turning with the store's scantily-clad mannequins striking a come-hither pose that seems more like a Parisian red-light district and less Newbury Street.
But, what do you expect from a store that means "inciting agent" in French?
In the wake of Diptyque has emerged Agent Provocateur, a high-end lingerie shop with apparel that will raise a few eyebrows among Boston's Puritanical set. Co-founder Joe Corre, who opened the label's first boutique back in 1996 with Serena Rees, has crafted a naughty collection of classic to exotic lingerie. Think enticing suspender belts, corsets, garters and see-through undergarments that will add a sizzle to your boudoir during the winter months.

Small, stuffed-to-the-gills type of gourmet gift shop. Tucked up in the Westin hotel part of Copley mall (near Gretta Cole and Starbucks). Many European chocolate lines, biscuits, coffees, teas and hot chocolates. Full line of Kinder and other gourmet children's chocolates and candies. Seasonal gifts. Corporate gifts. Also fresh savory gourmet treats like fois gras, caviar, truffles. With it's proximity to Monroe SaltWorks, it makes a kid- friendly place to duck out of the rain or kill time in Copley square.
