Lionette's Market is the Market for The Garden of Eden restaurant (which is located close to Lionette's). They have a full service deli with prepared salads, vegetables, meats and select entrees. They stock a small amount of fresh fruits and vegetables, as well as gourmet dry and canned foods. They have a great selection of natural, as well as foreign brands- and both look amazing!
The tiny market is "airplane-free", a new concept of eco-ethical trade to us. All of the young cheeses are from New England. The only European cheeses are old enough to ride on a boat. Preserved items are all locally made. He knows his 100 purveyors by first name. But it's immediately obvious that Jamey's true love is meat. A chalkboard at the door advertises "Today's Fats", including house-rendered Lard, Duck Fat, and Vegetable Shortening. Jamey buys a half cow a week and a whole pig, grass-fed from Vermont. He makes all his own sausage and cures the bacon and steams the ham and takes up 1/3 of his deli counter to proudly display the side of bacon.
Though small, Lionette's Market is definitly worth a visit! You are guaranteed to find something yummy to put in your tummy!

Christy's looks like your typical neighborhood joint with its tiny quaint tables and menus on the walls. Don't let this fool you into thinking that you can't fall in love with it. I can picture walking into this place from the cold, windows fogged up on the inside with warm steam and enjoying a simple, but unique, Vidalia Chicken wrap at $6.99. Other award winning selections to the menu make this worth the trip, such as the Texana pizza topped with grilled steak priced at $9.49 for a small. Salads start at $4.99, and the breakfast omelets look absolutely delish. They also have good coffee! Catering is also available. Cash only for now, and the prices are very reasonable. By the end of the year, the owner plans to install a credit card machine.

City Feed and Supply offers essential items that urban JP dwellers need just like the Feed and Supply stores do in rural areas. But instead of hay or sacks of cow food, City Feed and Supply has coffee, sandwiches, pastries, groceries, magazines, candles and toilet paper and many, many other things crammed into this little space on Boylston Street. Fair Trade coffee is to JP as --what?-- is to Podunk, Kansas.
Soon City Feed and Supply plans to expand to Centre Street and offer essential materials to even more of JP.

Max's is great! It's a New York style deli with great food and friendly people. Even though Michael is very grouchy looking he's a businessman getting the job done.
The Osso Bucco (veal stew and mashed potato) is my favorite when I'm really hungry.

With their motto "Crazy about food," they couldn't be more right. This supermarket, a staple for all BU students, is the ultimate in convenience. Open 24 hours, fully equipped with a pharmacy and florist, this Shaw's has everything a college student could need at any time of the day... or night! So when you're heading home from a late night out and all the pizza places are closed, stop by Shaw's and pick up a DiGiorno.

This Charlestown local hang out becomes most people's favorite winter spot when the weather turns cold. The Warren Tavern is one of the oldest restaurants and bars in the city of Boston, and proudly tout themselves as a meeting place for the Patriots during the Revolution. The Warren Tavern not only has a happening social scene filled with 20 and 30 somethings, but the food on the menu is a comfort seekers dream. Creamy chowder, french onion soup, huge burgers that are the talk of the town, and a variety of salads stock the menu. One of the best places to visit in this part of the city! Go on Wednesday nights, because Greg the bartender has to be one of the best and funniest in Boston. Built circa 1780.
