The Coop (as it is commonly known) is a retail store owned by its members: Harvard and MIT students, faculty, staff, and other affiliates. Founded in 1882, The Coop operates student-oriented stores offering a wide selection of textbooks, general-interest books, office supplies, stationary, music, prints and school insignia merchandise, including Harvard and MIT gear. Members are entitled to annual rebates based on their purchases; all for a $1 annual fee. You do not have to be a member to shop here, however. Anyone affiliated with Harvard may join by going to the Cashier's Office in one of the seven Coop locations and paying a $2 annual membership fee. Other locations include: the MIT Coop in Kendall Square, MIT Coop at Stratton, Business Coop at Spangler, Law School Coop at Pound Hall, and the Medical Coop on Longwood Avenue in Boston. The tend not to answer their phones during normal business hours.

Compass Healthcare is a small shop on the far end of Longwood Ave that carries all manner of items to cater to the sick, the ailing, and the disabled. They carry canes, small prosthetics, and healing bandages. Given it's small size, the staff of Compass Healthcare is knowledgable about their craft and are attentive to the needs of their customers. Compass Healthcare is only open Monday through Friday from 8am to 5pm, and they only perform on-site fittings from 8:30am to 3:30pm.

The Emmanuel College bookstore is located within the campus Administration Building on the Plaza Level. Emmanuel has handed over the operation of the bookstore to eFollett, a large national textbook and e-book distributer. Besides books, the EC bookstore also carries campus-themed apparel and souvenirs, as well as various convenience items. This location also will buy textbooks back at the end of every semester for a highly depreciated price. While they may not offer the best prices for these books, students have the option of receiving a gift card or store credit instead of cash. When used these gift cards typically yield an additional 10% off purchases made in-store or on eFollet's website.. The Emmanuel College Bookstore allows customers to pay with all major credit cards, cash, and Fenway Cash.

7 Eleven is a popular convenience store with locations throughout the U.S. They are famous for their "Slurpies", which are slushy drinks that come in a variety of flavors and sizes. They carry all your basic necessities and sundries.

This Bruegger's Bagels located on Longwood Avenue is a branch of a nationwide chain of breakfast and coffee shops that serves locations all throughout the United States. Like its sister stores, this Bruegger's offers a wide array of hearty bagels, breads, soups, and sandwiches that are difficult to find in other restaurants. Aside from other traditional breakfast fare, Bruegger's also serves Green Mountain coffee and frozen frappuccinos. This is a great quick stop for those who work in the Longwood Medical Area, as it is conveniently located near Joslin Diabetes Center as well as Children's Hospital and convenient garage parking is located directly next door.
