With so many places to choose from when it comes to a quick, cheap eat, Il Mondo should be at the top of your list. really. Their menu is nothing but creative and titillating concoctions of quirky and yummy ingredients (think goat cheese and pesto sauce). For around 2 dollars, you can get one very large slice of gourmet pizza with the best not-too-soft, not-too-crispy crust and topped with fresh sauce and toppings. However-if you're looking for a romantic cheap date, this is not your place. Slightly lacking in their decor, this is great take-out, run-out place where you can eat your pizza in a slightly more cozy environment. (There's a nice little park a block away called Puddingstone Park with an amazing skyline view of the city that might prove a better place to enjoy your delicious pizza).

The Savant Project is a funky restaurant on the newly bustling main drag of Mission Hill. Large windows are great for people watching and there is a cozy little patio. Open seven days a week, SP offers lating-asian fusion fare. Check out the panko-crusted salmon over wasabi mashed potatoes. Lunch, dinner and brunch on the weekends. Join them for trivia night on Sundays and half-priced Tapas (with the purchase of a drink) from 230-6pm. Free Music (DJ/Live) Thurs-Sat nights.

Tremont House of Pizza is your typical pizza joint, but they also feature a number of seafood dishes. This one is very popular with Mission Hill's many college students. They are known for their very affordable prices, which is important since they are located in the college residence hub! Because they serve Greek-style pizza, their pizza crust is thin; if you are looking for a thicker crust, you may want to look elsewhere.

Ak's Take-Out and Delivery is one of Mission Hill's hidden gems. While Ak's food wouldn't exactly fall into the gourmet category, they offer a huge array of pizza, subs, salads, and more that are kind to your tastebuds and your wallet. The pizza - the crust is thick and chewy, although the toppings, as with the calzones, are plentiful. The best part of these calzones are the size. They may seem a little expensive, but that is because the large is literally a giant pizza folded in half. They are massive and can last up to 3 days in leftovers due to volume. Their large subs start at about six dollars, while their large pizzas start at eight dollars. Ak's also has some excellent dinner packages that are, like their other fare, generously portioned and inexpensive. This is a great choice for any college student with a limited budget but a bottomless stomach, as their prices are much cheaper than their competitors and their portions are more than generous. The only downside to Ak's fantastic and fast delivery service is their minimum delivery of ten dollars, as well as an additional $1.50 charge for delivery. Ak's is open every day from 11 AM to Midnight. However, beware: There is no seating at the actual restaurant, so you'd do well to stick to takeout!

This is a brand new restaurant that will be coming to Mission Hill within the next few months! They will serve authentic Italian foods as well as wine and beer. They will offer dining-in, take-out, and a catering service. This will be Mission Hill's first real Italian restaurant! WooHoo!

Mississippi's Restaurant is located close to the Roxbury neighborhood in a renovated 19th century brewery building and is famous for their lunch. They serve up home-style comfort food in a cafeteria style setting in the $7-10 range. This establishment also specializes in catering. To get to this restaurant, you can get off at the Roxbury Crossing or Jackson Square T stop.

This restaurant serves up your typical pub and grub fare, with a few not-so-typical specialties! They are located across the street from Harvard School of Public Health(on Huntington), and are known for their glass pig heads that get filled with beer! They are famous for their "Toasties," which are filled with yummy things like brie and cranberries. Chacho's Pizza and Subs is a small pizza joint located in Mission Hill. They are known for their affordable prices, and serve up your basic pizza's and subs, as well as wings, and some ethnic items. If you are looking for a greasy slice of pepperoni pizza, and are in the neighborhood, you may want to check out Chacho's.

Flann O'Briens is a Mission Hill institution. It has evolved from a cash only dive-bar to a full-service pub. The menu offers standard pub fare (with the requisite Irish favorites). There is trivia on Tuesdays, live music on Thursdays and karaoke on Saturdays. At any given time you will find a healthy mix of townies, students and Longwood employees playing pool or throwing darts.
