You know the kid who got more attention growing up, who consequently became the favorite? That's the Public Gardens compared to its "ugly" counterpart, the Boston Common. Always pristine, always in everyone's wedding photos- this park is beautiful.
Manicured with the best flowers, and shrubbery sculpted weekly- The Public Gardens is the city's crown jewel of parks. Situated at the head of both Back Bay and Beacon Hill, the park offers a beautiful lake, the famous bronze ducks sculpture (from a great children's book), swan tours (big boat shaped like swans), a wonderful bridge, and small little fountains at the corners. The statues of note-worthy Bostonians gives the park a "larger-than-life" feel. The Public Garden has been compared to Oz. You almost feel comfortable enough to run around barefoot in the grass.
In the summer, you'll find musicians playing soft music. By fall, the leaves on the trees change and the park transforms into a picture-worthy playground. Set up a picnic, or just come to stroll. You won't be disappointed.

Get a glimpse of Boston through all mediums: past (history), present (history in the making), by land, and by sea.

This fun boat tour takes visitors around the city to all the big landmarks, then on the Charles River for a panoramic view of the sky line. The vehicle is a converted World War II DUKW that has the capability to run on water.

These tours are educational and interesting, but can be very costly. Adults run $29, and children are $19. There are discounted prices for students, seniors, active duty military members and children under 3.

Tours depart daily from the Museum of Science and the Shops at Prudential Center. Tickets booths open at 8:30am and the first tour of the day leaves at 9am. Tours run every half hour until 7pm during peak season and 6pm during the shoulder season. Be sure to purchase tickets early as tours fill up very quickly. Each tour is 80 minutes long and as seats are first come first choice, make sure you get to your departure location at least 30 minutes prior to your tour.

Many times the captain(driver)"aka conDUCKtor" will let an eager tourist run the vehicle while it is on the river.

Keith Lockhart, Boston's charismatic sweetheart, conducts the Boston Pops. The Pops play more "popular" music (than the BSO) such as movie themes, swing, big band, and light classical works at Symphony Hall in May and June, often with renowned soloists. The Holiday at Pops series in December features Yuletide favorites. Their free performances at the Hatch Memorial Shell is an integral part of Boston's Independence Day celebration. When The Pops perform the seats are removed from the first floor of Symphony Hall and tables are brought - so that concert goers get table service as well as music. All concerts wheelchair-accessible. Admission $26-$118; For tickets times for concerts, click here
This section contains information from Harvard Student Agencies' Unofficial Guide to Life at Harvard. 50-100 tickets day of the performance available for rush tickets for Tuesday nights during the season, except for Opening Night. Rush tickets are available in the Main Box Office at the Massachusetts Avenue entrance, with a maximum of 2 per customer, and must be paid for with cash.

Boston Paintball claims to be the largest paintball indoor playing field on the North Eastern Seaboard, and at 31,000 sq. ft., they're probably not wrong. Viewing areas on both sides allow you to enjoy the viciousness vicariously. Players must be registered 1hr before closing to play. Rent jumpsuits ($6) or wear a long-sleeved shirt with pants and sneakers. Rates begin at $30 per person for all day play, 200 rounds of paint, and equipment. W night offers special discounts for those with their own equipment. Reservations recommended for groups of 8+.
