Povo is an early-stage company based in
Boston (in the
South End more specifically). We
empower communities by
harnessing people’s collective knowledge about all the places and things around where they live, work, and play. With Povo, we all can explore like true insiders. Povo does this through on-line collaboration, allowing people to share insights and knowledge with each other.
Built by users, edited by users. Wiki-based and Creative Commons licensed. Anyone can contribute and use Povo content freely.
As a growing online resource for Bay State bloggers, Povo is committed to the Boston-area blog community by offering a bevy of tools and content (including photos, vital details and geo-targeted tags) which can be used to enhance their hyper-local coverage.

HOW TO INTEGRATE POVO CONTENT INTO YOUR SITE OR BLOG
The content on Povo is under a
Creative Commons license. This means that we really encourage you to reuse, recycle, and remix it for whatever you can imagine. All we ask in return is that you attribute the content you use to Povo. We provide a variety of tools to help reuse Povo content appropriately. Broadly, you can:
- Share Povo Links - Facebook, Twitter, Digg, the list goes on. Simply click the "Link/Share" link at the top page next to our logo and you'll be presented with a long list of services you can send Povo links to.
- Make links to Povo pages - This is the web after all, so link away. Our tools let you get "very short" versions of our URLs, add graphics, and even automatically make links without checking Povo first (we call them 'Automatic Links').
- RSS Feeds - Any page in Povo can be exposed as an Atom web feed. Just click on the
icon at the bottom of any page to get the content of that page in Atom format.
- Widgets - Any page or search on Povo can be embedded on your site as a map view using a widget. This includes your lists, tag searches, "user created search engine" searches (i.e. Where can I park for less than $10 for two hours around X), and more. You can also choose the results view or the "heatmap" view if you want to show concentration of some search over space. There are also more widgets on the drawing board.
- Use the Povo API - For more advanced users, you can get "raw data" in JavaScript or XML formats to really customize and slice and dice what you get back.

Thank you for your contribution. You've taken a huge step to making Povo the "word on the street,"
and we appreciate it very much. Because of the complexity of the "wiki text" and code that can be used
on Povo, in order to edit this section in the future you must click the "edit" button to the right of the section
heading (or for the whole page).
