Boston Dyke March

GreaterBoston:Image:2593244192 6307dc5e5b
Every year, Dyke March Bostonhosts an event for dykes, their dyke-friendly cohorts, and anyone else looking for some good clean fun. Every year they gather at the Boston Common Gazebo at 6:00 p.m. on the Friday before the Pride Week celebration. This year's Boston Dyke March was on Friday, June 13, 2008. The route starts at the Gazebo and goes around the Common back to the starting point. Bring some water and some snacks, because you're going to want to stay a very long time. Don't forget your woman-loving picket sign!

Musical performance and a rowdy emcee entertain the crowds until well after sunset. The after-party takes place at the Holiday Inn Somerville until 2am.
Each June Dyke Marches take place in multiple cities across the United States and internationally, and traditionally occur the day or night before that city's Gay Pride celebrations. The tradition began in Washington DC in 1993 when Lesbian Avengers organized a queer women's demonstration to supplement and point out the shortcomings of a large scale gay-rights march. The tradition has continued for the past 14 years.
