The finish line is located on Boylston Street between Dartmouth and Exeter Streets, right next to the Boston Public Library. The several blocks between the Prudential and Copley Square become jammed with spectators and, later, with runners and their friends and families.
Before and after the race, people can explore the surrounding shops and restaurants. The aptly named Marathon Sports running shop sits virtually on top of the finish line and there's a Niketown just around the corner on Newbury. After finishing, runners continue through the Copley Square to cool down and get their well-deserved medals.
