Commonwealth Avenue
Commonwealth Avenue runs from the Boston Public Garden out beyond the confines of Boston. This is the longest street in the city of Boston. The blocks that run through the Back Bay neighborhood are part of 'the Emerald Necklace" - the 6 mile long set of parks designed by Frederick Law Olmsted in the 1880s. It's featured every year as part of the Boston Marathon and both Boston University and Boston College are stretched along "Comm Ave." Commonwealth Avenue is also known for the beauty of it's natural "walking mall". This is the tree canopied, brownstone surrounded, and park bench studded wide sidewalk that slithers up a large portion of Comm Ave.

973 Commonwealth in Boston, MA has a simple motto. Great Food, Great Drinks, Great People - and that's exactly what you'll find. Located in the heart of the Boston University area, this American Bar & Grill is a favorite of the college crowd. Their menu features a variety of upscale pub fare, including burgers, sandwiches, pizza, pasta, steaks, salads, seafood and everything in-between. Their bar serves up a variety of domestic & imported beers on tap (Guinness, Harpoon IPA, Blue Moon, Sam Adams Seasonal), as well as a fine selection of bottled beer (Budweiser, Miller, Coors, Heineken, Corona). The wine list is none too shabby either, with a great selection of red and whites to accompany your meal. And of course, their menu also features the full gambit of traditional pub appetizers, mozzarella sticks, nachos, potato skins, chicken wings, all perfect to share among friends alongside a pitcher of your favorite beer.
In addition to the great food and drinks, 973 Commonwealth also offers a variety of weekly events. Grab the mic at their Karaoke events held every Tuesday, or compete with other bargoers for fame and prizes at Thursday night trivia. Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights all feature a live DJ, so come have a drink and enjoy the music. And any day of the week you can enjoy watching your favorite sports team on 973's giant flatscreen televisions. Simply put, 973 Commonwealth is one of the best Bar & Grills in Boston, well worth checking out.

GreaterBoston:Image:Dog Pound at Agganis Arena
Agganis Arena is part of Boston University's $225 million John Hancock Student Village building project. It hosts both school sports and outside events, and can be converted from an ice rink to a basketball court to a concert venue. It was named after Harry Agganis, star of the (now nonexistent) BU Terriers football team and also a one-time member of the Boston Red Sox.
Home of the BU men's ice hockey team (and occasionally the women's hockey team and both basketball teams), Agganis Arena features the Dog Pound (section 118, and lately also section 108), a group of student fans with a lot of heart and a lot of volume. The Terriers draw a near-full crowd for most games, and nothing beats a BU-BC match-up. Most students and fans wear red BU shirts and hockey jerseys... the most important tip is not to wear yellow - it's the color of the much-hated Boston College "Superfans," so expect to be booed.
The Dog Pound and the Pep Band keep up the excitement during the game with cheers, chants, songs, and choreographed moves. Between periods, fans can look up at the huge cube of TV screens hanging high above the ice for such contests as the Kiss Cam and the iPod Dance Off. Arena staff often host on-ice contests, from puck shooting to rubber chicken throwing events, and occasionally fans can cheer on young area hockey teams who compete in short games during the bigger boys' breaks.
