Located just past the BU Bridge in BU West, Darque Tan is a convenient option for BU’s tanners. On July 18th, at 6pm, the 808 Gallery will open its doors to exhibit the fresh face of Boston contemporary art. The third annual juried Boston Young Contemporaries Exhibition (BYC) represents eleven New England Master of Fine Arts and Post-Baccalaureate programs. This year's show includes over 90 emerging East Coast artists and encompasses a variety of contemporary painting, photography, video, and sculpture. Along with 159 artworks, and live music performed by DJ Ari Joseph, the BYC in a combined effort with Whole Foods Market will feature an edible instillation commenting on environmental degradation.
Admission is free and open to the public.

Not just a ski market, this is really the ultimate sports market, selling everything from kayaks to…well, skis. Ski Market offers the only mechanized factory-style ski tuning machine in all of Massachusetts for ski grinding and beveling (ski/board tuneups $35+). They also do bike and other sports equipment repair. Rentals available (skis $20/day, $10 each additional day).

If money is not an issue and you want a quality sound system or home theater unit, then stroll through the Spearit showroom and take a look at their beautiful selection of Rotel, Krell, Infinity, and 33 other brands of equipment. The equipment here is really high end, so it's nice to drop in just to admire sleek lines and dream about the future. For a slightly less expensive alternative, browse online to see what used equipment is available then swing by to purchase it, or check out their eBay auctions.

Located inside Ski Market, (you can access it from around the corner), this hard-core skater's paradise stocks snowboards (Burtons $300-500) and skateboard decks ($130 complete), plus an abundant selection of BMX bikes, Rollerblades, Oakley and Anarchy sunglasses, Burton clothing, skating shoes, and other stylish accessories. The store organizes weekly trips to ski mountains late Nov. to early Apr. The helpful staff will assist in finding the perfect gear for you, and the summer streetwear collection will impress your preppy friends with how edgy and urban you can be. Also has a little mini skate area with 1/4 pipes and whatnot so you can impress everyone.
