Thank you for your contribution. You've taken a huge step to making Povo the "word on the street,"
and we appreciate it very much. Because of the complexity of the "wiki text" and code that can be used
on Povo, in order to edit this section in the future you must click the "edit" button to the right of the section
heading (or for the whole page).
At this site on March 5, 1770, in front of the Old State House, tensions between the colonists and British soldiers erupted into violence. According to the British, this wasn't so much a massacre as perhaps a skirmish of sorts. It all began with a wigmaker's apprentice, who got into it with a British sentry, then all heck broke loose. British reinforcements were called in, only to be met with an angry crowd of colonists who hurled snowballs, insults, rocks, clubs, and whatever else they could get their hands on. The British ended up firing their muskets, and five civilians died. One of the sites on the Boston Freedom Trail.
J.Pace & Sons (it is to be pronounced Pah-chay) is well known for its lasagna as well as its sandwiches. Inside, it's hardly any different from your normal sandwich shop. Hot sandwiches over there, cold over here, pay down there, next to the drink fridge. I usually head for their "Big Dig" sandwich, being prosciutto, basil, fresh mozzarella, tomatoes, roasted red peppers, oil and balsamic vinegar on a hefty Italian roll. It's one of their most expensive at $7.45, but after having one, you rarely need dinner. Very filling.
The pastries aren't to rave about, but everything else is delish!
Graffiti is a place for quick notes. Know the hours of a business but not sure where to put it? Did something just happen at this place? Leave some graffiti.
Sometimes street view does not point exactly to the right place. You may need to "drive around" a bit.
