The statue of Mrs. Mallard and her 8 ducklings, made of bronze on old cobblestone by Nancy Schon, is located in the Public Garden. Going to see the duckling parade is a great family activity and photo opportunity for residents and tourists alike. There is also an anonymous person that dresses the ducklings up from time to time with fun outfits from Red Sox gear to Santa hats.

Every year on Mother's Day, this is the inspiration for the Duckling Day Parade. The parade begins at 12:00; preregistration will begin at 10:00 a.m. on the Boston Common, at the base of the Shaw Memorial, just below the State House.

Children dress up as ducklings, and they and their families retrace the steps of Mr. and Mrs. Mallard and their family of eight ducklings. Led by the Harvard University Marching Band, children relive the adventures of Mr. and Mrs. Mallard dressed as one of their favorite characters from the book. All children that are registered will receive ducky prizes and refreshments. Tickets are $25 per family.
