Massachusetts Avenue
Massachusetts Avenue
Massachusetts Avenue, or more widely referred to as "Mass Ave" by Bostonians and Cantibrigans, is a major road that stretches throughout Boston, Cambridge, and several other towns outside of the city. Mass Ave. begins in the neighborhood of Dorchester and crosses into Cambridge over the Harvard Bridge. Mass Ave has some serious ground covered in Cambridge as it runs through Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Central Square, Harvard University, Harvard Square, Porter Square, and then out into the suburbs.
Along the way, Mass. Ave is dotted with everything from cafes and restaurants, to pubs, boutiques, commerical buildings, and residences. Mass. Ave and it's diversity is a true depiction of the variety and beauty of this great city.

Take-out by the pound?
If you're a hungry college student on a budget, you've found your mecca. This Korean-Japanese restaurant is spacious and offers an all-you-can-eat assortment of dishes. The food isn't worthy of a Zagat rating, but it's filling, and inexpensive. The food at Arirang House is served buffet style, with a lunch buffet a little under $7, and dinner buffet around $8.50. There are lots of tables, and colorful decor to go along with the smells of the various buffet items. If one member of your party isn't eating, a sign warns they may charge you if you don't notify them.
Needing late-night sustenance while studying at Northeastern University or Berklee School of Music? Come in towards the end of the night, and you can get take-out, weighed by the pound. Noodles (all varieties), veggies, tofu, rice, sushi, stirfry, beansprouts, beef, chicken wings, kim chi, soup, fruit--lots of choices.
There's few Korean restaurants in the city, and while Arirang may not be the most authentic, its range and size make it an appealing budget option.

If you crave duffle bags ($10-40), military clothing, or anything camo chic, then you're in the right place. Very friendly (if somewhat intimidating) staff will help you choose a military-style peacoat ($115), a set of dog tags ($9), or even an Israeli gas mask ($30). Pick up a folding shovel or ammo box for that special someone in your life. Can't find something? They do special orders for missing sizes and items.

A lineup of Buddha statues greets you as you enter this "palatial sanctuary" of Thai cuisine, perfect for an intimate dinner. In addition to the usual chairs, a raised platform with low tables lets patrons take off their shoes and lounge back on pillows for a more “traditional” experience. The friendly staff will gladly answer questions and make recommendations, such as crispy duck with plum sauce ($12.50) and pla saam rod, crispy whole bass with basil and spicy sauce. Or feel free to customize your own meal from your choice of meat, seafood, or tofu with house sauces from ginger to bamboo to pineapple ($9-12). Don't leave without trying the mango and sticky rice ($6.95) for dessert. Noodles and fried rice $8-10, entrees $9-17.
