Just climbed to the top of Beacon Hill? Kids whining that their legs hurt? No problem. The Myrtle Street Playground is here and wonderful enough to prove a nice distraction from minor woes. An urban oasis with a sandbox, jungle gym, swings, and room for bikes and hopscotch. Has benches and chess tables. You will find a combination of nannies, babysitters, and parents here most hours of the day. A great meeting spot in the neighborhood. A stone's throw from the Massachusetts State House and the Museum of African American History, Myrtle Street gives all who visit a taste of what it's like to be a Boston city kid, or the parent of one.
Renovated in 2000, this small but well-planned and clean playground will delight children and adults alike. Plenty of benches allow the walk-weary to rest. Equipment includes a climbing structure with slides, a glider, fire pole, and the ever popular crazy daisy. You'll also find two bucket swings and two big kid swings. There are also numerous toys and trucks that are already in the playground and sandbox for the use of the kids!
