The North End Parks feature gardens, open lawns and shaded terraces on two acres that unite neighborhoods once severed by the Central Artery. Today this jewel is part of the Rose Fitzgerald Kennedy Greenway links the landmark Faneuil Hall Marketplace and one of Boston’s oldest, most intimate neighborhoods. Park visitors can bring their espresso, gelato or cannoli from North End shops to relax before or after walking the The Freedom Trail.
The Greenway is managed by the Rose Fitzgerald Kennedy Greenway Conservancy, Inc..
Conservancy sponsored programs and activities in the North End Parks such as lunchtime music quartets are more intimate in nature than other park programs, providing park goers with opportunities to reflect amidst lush plantings and babbling fountains. Saturday afternoon storytelling and historical reenactments reflect the history of the land, located on the neck of the original Shawmut peninsula.
The parks were designed by Gustafson Guthrie Nichol Ltd and Crosby Schlessinger Smallridge LLC.
