Landmark Center is the former site of the Sears Roebuck Catalog and Distribution Center. This Art Deco beauty was designed by George Nimmons in 1928 and is on the National Register of Historic Places. In 2000, the Abbey Group working with Bruner/Coff & Associates renovated the building for mixed use. It houses retail, services and offices.
Quizno's is located within the Landmark Center in between Coldstone Creamery and Best Buy. This is a great place to grab a quick, portable meal on the go (or one to sneak into the adjacent movie theater, if you're feeling brave). Their toasted subs are consistently warm and huge. Quizno's is more expensive than it's competitor across the street D'Angelo, but the meats and ingredients they use seem to be of vastly higher quality. Present your movie stub at purchase and receive a special discount!
Fresh City is on the Concourse Level of the Landmark Center, directly above Best Buy. This chain restaurant aims to be healthier than its fast food competitors while also providing a huge array of delicious choices. They have an ample salad bar that would satisfy even the most discerning of vegetarians, as well as some fare for the less calorie conscious eaters. Aside from leafy greens and veggies, Fresh City also offers sandwiches, stir fry, pizza, fried rice, breakfast items, as well as a smoothie bar. As their name suggests, Fresh City prides themselves in the quality of their ingredients and strives to offer as many organic and all-natural options as possible.
Fresh City also offers great catering for business meetings and other functions. Their sandwich platter is a great option when you have a lot of guests with dietary restriction or with finicky taste buds.
Online catering and personal orders can be made via their [www.freshcity.com website], but tend to take longer to prepare than usual.
The getting to be ubiquitous ice cream chain. Coldstone serves decadent and rich ice cream dishes at a higher price than its competitors. Most ice cream enthusiasts agree that although Colstone Creamery's prices are not easy on the wallet, the expense is well worth it. Where else can you get a cake batter ice cream sundae with all of the proper fixings?
Does anyone else throw in just a few cents in the tip jar to make the employees sing (rather than a dollar bill?) Is that totally mean?
A newcomer to the fast food market, UFood (Formerly "Know Fat!") is a "lifestyle grill". You can have a bacon cheeseburger -- but it's lean beef, turkey bacon and fat free cheese on a whole wheat bun, my friend. They are conveniently located directly next door to the movie theater in the Landmark Center, so if you're hungry on the way to see a flick but don't want to feel guilty about it, UFood might be a solid choice. Some of UFood's selections are actually pretty delicious despite their very low calorie content, while others can be underwhelming. Their french fries are a light and crispy treat, but some of their burgers leave much to be desired. Nonetheless, their prices are fair and their portions are generous. UFood might not be everyone's cup of tea, but their food is sufficient when you're in a rush but don't want fast food.
Regal Fenway Stadium 13 is a thirteen screen movie theater owned by a larger national chain. Their theaters all offer stadium seating, surround sound, and crystal clear picture. Tickets don't come cheap, though--One movie costs a hefty $10.50 a piece.
Regal's concessions are similarly pricey, but most large sizes are eligible for free refills. As with most theaters of its size, snagging a seat on Friday night may be a challenge without some planning. It's advisable to buy tickets ahead of time.
While Regal Fenway's prices are quite expensive, it's still possible to make your $10.50 last a bit longer. Patronizing the businesses next door can make a night at the movies with a date or the family a little easier. Longhorn Steakhouse offers tickets for $7 if you eat there. Additionally, the Quizno's nearby also offers a discounted meal price when a movie stub is presented.
Parking is available either in the lot next to Best Buy or in the Landmark Center garage. Remember to validate your parking ticket for two hours off your parking fee.
Handy for students at Mass Art over on Huntington or for students at Art Institute of Boston right up the street. This store is for the serious artist and also for those who just want to dabble. It has everything - paint, paper, pens, pencils, etc.
You thought all Best Buy stores were big ugly boxes out in the suburbs - au contraire. This Best Buy has all the electronics you want in a handy location for city dwellers.
Visit the website for information about how to turn in your used cell phone for a Best Buy digital coupon. You can turn in more than one phone at a time.
Probably the biggest Staples in Boston - why visit those cramped, dingy locations downtown. Come to Landmark Center for wide aisles, lots of room and all the paperclips, paper, post-its, pens -- that you could ever want.
Landmark Center brings all those stores you imagine to only exist in strip malls in the suburbs to the doorstep of Bostonians. Case in point, Bed, Bath & Beyond. Avoid this place the first week in September (thousands of students figuring out what they need for their dorm rooms) but any other time of the year it's got all you need for your bedroom, bathroom, kitchen and other rooms too!
OK if you want a rock wall to try out equipment on you do have to trek out to Framingham. But otherwise, this REI has all your outdoor sporting goods needs. They offer a wide range of classes, events and presentations so you can learn to use your GPS unit, snowshoes, tent and what not too.

Formerly an old Sears-Roebuck's warehouse and distribution office, the Landmark Center was built around 1930. Yet in 1980 Sears' business took a turn for the worst, and the Landmark Center was left abandoned.
In 2000 the Landmark Center re-opened for business with no small amount of fanfare and a whole host of new tenants. Currently, the building houses Best Buy, REI, Staples, Regal Cinemas, Coldstone Creamery, Longhorn Steakhouse, Fresh City, Know Fat!, Quizno's, Harvard Medical School offices, and a variety of Blue Cross/Blue Shield offices.
Once darkness falls the Landmark Center is quite the sight to see. Blue, purple, green, and red lights illuminate its iconic 200-foot tall tower, allowing it to be seen from miles and miles away. Parking for all business and offices within the Landmark Center is available in their own garage and is operated by LAZ Parking.

Graffiti is a place for quick notes. Know the hours of a business but not sure where to put it? Did something just happen at this place? Leave some graffiti.
Sometimes street view does not point exactly to the right place. You may need to "drive around" a bit.
