You may remember Maison Robert the tres fancy French restaurant that occupied a corner of Old City Hall for many years? This is one of two new incarnations of that old standard -- a smaller and more intimate setting as it's name suggests. It has a sibling in the South End.
The chef and owner pride themselves in being a true French bistro, meaning a restaurant where your average Joe goes to eat. Lunch entrees are under $12 and dinner entrees are $20.

This is one of my favorite restaurants in Boston. Service is friendly and not stuffy, the food is amazing. Took my mother-in-law here for her birthday and the staff made her feel very special. They prepare my favorite state-side version of a classic: beef bourguignon, with all the depth of flavor you would expect from a great French restaurant. Another favorite, when it's on the menu, is the coconut cream tart for dessert. Subtle, creamy, not too sweet. For the money, this is probably one of Boston's best values for good solid French food. The French Library/Alliance Française holds a monthly prix fixe outing here (or at the South End location, I can't remember) for relaxed conversation in French, all levels welcome.

One of my favorite places to dine out in the city because the food is always so good, the service is impeccable, and the prices are great. It is quiet, but with a good scene, and romantic.

Le Petit Robert is one of my more favorite restaurants in the city- It is always PACKED for the dinner hour- but, nevertheless, the service is always impeccable. They bring you your own, freshly back baguette with fresh butter to start, and have great salads and appetizers! Their menu is very innovative-and make sure to stay for dessert! This place is a great date night spot- as the yummy food will not break your bank!
