"10 Great Artists with Unique Styles" is how this gallery promotes itself, but I wasn't overly impressed. North End and Boston scenes with Photoshop filters to enhance the otherwise generic images. Highly saturated, colorful and fun pieces. Great for an apartment or as an expensive souvenir, but nothing really serious.

Right in the bustling heart of the North End, Assaggio is about as Chianti-soaked, drippy-candle romantic as it gets. Get cozy under beautifully painted ceilings upstairs or in the “wine cellar” downstairs, where Assaggio's wine stash is hidden among what seems like miles of grapevines and roman columns. Feed each other the wonderfully tasty tidbits from the hot antipasto for two and delight in some of the best chicken francese around (which comes not with pasta but garlic-spinach and mashed potatos; $17). Entrees $12-25.

Raw food: it's not just for the rabbits anymore. With the recent introduction of Grezzo on Prince Street, the North End is not just about meatballs anymore. Chef and creator, Alissa Cohen brings to the table (pardon the pun) an array of totally vegan recipes that are 100 percent organic and to be considered "raw" are kept below 112 degrees at all times. Although there is no dairy or animal products used, dishes like candied beet ravioli and vanilla parsnips and tart green apple soup will keep the foodies coming to the North End for something new. Reservations are recommended. Hours: Wednesday thru Friday: 5:00 p.m. - 11:00 p.m. Saturday and Sunday: 11:00 a.m. - 11:00 p.m. They will be opening for lunch during the week soon.

Judy Catuogno and her twin sister Joy run this funky boutique. Upscale items such as Fendi, Prada, D&G, furs, and beaded gowns. They bring in items from about 10 different boutiques as well as from very chic individuals, then take half off the original price. Before you consider some cheap knock-off that will fall apart in weeks, stop by here instead for your discount designer fix.

You will find this small 25 seat candlelit dining room with colorful walls and original artwork. Chefs and owners Patrick and Frank Mendoza serve up homemade pastas and gourmet pizzas with an imaginative twist. The trattoria is indeed quite small, and the tables are jam-packed in, but that just adds to the authentic North End experience.
In the summer, it's nice to sit by the open window and watch the world of Prince Street laze by as you drink white wine and eat bruschetta and pasta. In the winter, it's nice to sit next to the brick walls, drink chianti and enjoy the warmth and ambiance of the space. The only thing that's no good is the bread- it's really, truly awful.
Adorable store that's great for picking up unique and totally random gifts. These items are like nothing you've ever seen before. The name makes it sound like some skinny witch club on Newbury Street, but I guarantee that anyone can walk in off the street and love this place. That includes men and pets. The woman who owns it, Debra Mattaliane, is very friendly and will give you tons of recommendations.

When you look in the window it appears as though they sell cocoa and snacks, but no, it's a postal shop. John, the owner, is known as the 'MacGyver of shipping', since he takes the time to get it right for you, which is oh so important for special occasions and holidays. You can have your packages shipped here, or they will hold your boxes for you until you can pick them up. Just don't sign them up for any more Victoria's Secret catalogs, since they have plenty. $2/box, but well worth it to know that some town hooligans aren't rummaging through the Dell printer left on your porch by FedEx or DHL, just have them ship to the Postale instead. Bonus: this place is dog friendly.
