Amrheins is a Southie institution. Since 1890 this resturant has been serving delicious and diverse fare and drinks to it's eager patients. Amrheins is the proud home of the oldest hand carved bar in America and still has the first Draft Beer pump in Boston on display. Come and enjoy the variety of beers on tap and a great place to watch the Sox score another victory. On par with upscale chains like Legal Seafood and P. F. Chang's, red and brassy Maggiano's comes without the intimacy and personality of North End restaurants, but it routinely draws throngs seeking its enormous portions of delicious southern Italian food. Groups of 4 can choose a 5-course feast from the “family style menu” for a bargain at $20 each, but a mere half-portion of a single entree like linguine with chicken and pesto (half $12/full $15) will undoubtedly leave leftovers. Although parked right next door to the Park Plaza Hotel, this Irish restaurant and bar packs in more than tourists and visting businessmen with it's Irish staff, fun atmosphere, and good pub grub. A great placew to watch the Red Sox, Pats, or Celtics, this is a hotspot on Marathon Monday as well.

The food here is very good and especially good after a night out. The food quality is head and shoulders above what you would find at Chau Chow city late night. Because of the awkward location, it is missed by most people that don't know about this place so the atmosphere late nights is more subdued where it is perfect to wind down and chat with your friends about the night. The outside looks very uninviting. There is a neon sign in a small window to the left, and to the right is a small hanging lit sign, which doesn't compete to well against it's neighbors. Well, pretty much everything on Tyler looks like hell anyways. You enter and are confused because you see only 4 rather large tables in a small room, but you turn the corner and there are more tables in a space twice as big. The floor is a bit uneven and the huge partition is a mystery, but it's probably a staircase. Don't be scared to come in, it's really a great place!
