State Street is a great place to walk around in Boston, where you can check out the local bar scene at some of the most well-known Irish bars in town like Kitty O'Shea's, or visit historical locations such as the Boston Massacre Site. It was originally called The Bloody Massacre, and there's a marker on the street at Devonshire Street that indicates where it all happened. In case you didn't know, Crispus Attucks earned his fame by being the first person killed in the Massacre.
"On March 5, 1770, in front of the Old State House, five men were shot and killed out of a mob that attacked a group of British Soldiers. In the excited state of the public mind at that time, a chance encounter between a sentry and some youths quickly developed into an attack with stones, clubs, and snowballs, which led to retaliation by the soldiers. The result was the death of five individuals."
Thank you for your contribution. You've taken a huge step to making Povo the "word on the street,"
and we appreciate it very much. Because of the complexity of the "wiki text" and code that can be used
on Povo, in order to edit this section in the future you must click the "edit" button to the right of the section
heading (or for the whole page).
Graffiti is a place for quick notes. Know the hours of a business but not sure where to put it? Did something just happen at this place? Leave some graffiti.
Sometimes street view does not point exactly to the right place. You may need to "drive around" a bit.
