Christy's looks like your typical neighborhood joint with its tiny quaint tables and menus on the walls. Don't let this fool you into thinking that you can't fall in love with it. I can picture walking into this place from the cold, windows fogged up on the inside with warm steam and enjoying a simple, but unique, Vidalia Chicken wrap at $6.99. Other award winning selections to the menu make this worth the trip, such as the Texana pizza topped with grilled steak priced at $9.49 for a small. Salads start at $4.99, and the breakfast omelets look absolutely delish. They also have good coffee! Catering is also available. Cash only for now, and the prices are very reasonable. By the end of the year, the owner plans to install a credit card machine.

Tiny hole in the wall that you might miss if you didn't know it was there. Pizza, pasta, sandwiches and panini. Delicious creations like The Vermonter sandwich ($7.25) with maple turkey, smoked gouda, sliced green apple, red onion, sun dried tomato mayo, and extra thick multigrain bread which is then baked to perfection in their oven. For $6.25 you can have The Whites Cranberry Salad (fresh greens topped with walnuts, Cape Cod cranberries, cucumbers, red onion, crumbled blue cheese and a side of balsamic vinaigrette. A variation on the French Dip ($6.95) is the vegetarian Farmer Dip for $6.75, stuffed with fresh spinach, carrot, red onion, cucumber, mushrooms, roasted red pepper, tomato, sliced mozzarella, and a side of rosemary au jus. This five-time Best of Boston pizza joint has been making mouths water since 1902. Although in the beginning, it was just the grilled meat that they are duly famous for. When the "new expansion" happened in the 1920s, pizza came onto the scene. People in and outside of the Boston area make the drive to Eastie for their famous cheesy pies. Parking is terrible and there is sure to be a line out the door on any given night. But at lunchtime, it's easier to get a seat. If you eat in, ask your waiter to tell you about the celebrities he's served. If you're ordering take-out, bring someone with you and let them wait while you circle around.

The open-fire grill produces both lamb kebabs and sausage while the pizza oven produces fantastic pizza in a number of combinations. The food is just straight out good. There's beer, wine and a full bar to accompany your selection.

Located on the corner of Chelsea and Porter, just minutes from Logan International Airport, it is the perfect location to stop before or after (and heck, even in between) flights. It's that good.

Bella Luna has been serving great food to folks from JP since 1993. The interior has a funky decor (with work by local artists) and you eat off of hand drawn plates (like those ones you did in elementary school). But it's the pizza (and other food) that is what folks come for.

Fabulous food at a great price. This take out joint is most widely known by sweet tooth Beacon Hillers as a fro yo hot spot. However, it is so much more than that. Cafe Podima offers by delivery, pick up, or dine in, a vast array of sandwiches, wraps, pizzas, calzones, and soups. Hearty food at a great price, and the calzones really nip that hangover in the bud!

It's nothing fancy. Just a small little storefront on the corner right across from the Andrew Square T stop. But they make a good, no-frills neighborhood pizza here. Good sauce - kinda sweet and just right. This is definitely a takeout or delivery place, since there are only a few little tables inside.

With so many places to choose from when it comes to a quick, cheap eat, Il Mondo should be at the top of your list. really. Their menu is nothing but creative and titillating concoctions of quirky and yummy ingredients (think goat cheese and pesto sauce). For around 2 dollars, you can get one very large slice of gourmet pizza with the best not-too-soft, not-too-crispy crust and topped with fresh sauce and toppings. However-if you're looking for a romantic cheap date, this is not your place. Slightly lacking in their decor, this is great take-out, run-out place where you can eat your pizza in a slightly more cozy environment. (There's a nice little park a block away called Puddingstone Park with an amazing skyline view of the city that might prove a better place to enjoy your delicious pizza).

With menu options such as pizza, soups, salads, sandwiches and wraps, Angora Cafe at Commonwealth and Babcock is a great place to stop by for lunch or a light dinner. Their most popular choice, however, is their frozen yogurt which comes in sizable portions with a variety of mix-in options.

3 floors of distinct dining rooms and the North End's ONLY seasonal patio and rooftop dining. You'd think that the rooftop might offer you a panoramic view of the North End, but that's not the case. While it is open air, there's a sort of garden wall that runs up high on all sides and pens in a friendly bunch of people who love to chat, drink and smoke. In the summertime the patio is a total meat market, which is perfect if you are loaded with enough cash and the desire to get your buns gooched (girls) and your egos bruised (guys). Don't go if you're the least bit prissy or fussy. This is more like an amusement park than a restaurant, and an experience that you should enjoy at least once in your life.

Ashmont Grill's Chris Douglass opens his third buzzworthy restaurant, Tavola, in Dorchester on Saturday, Aug. 9. Located on Dorchester Ave. in the new Carruth Building next to the red line's Ashmont Station, Tavola serves up the freshest in Italian family cuisine including pizza, pasta, wine and more.

Pizzas are thin crust and well received, as are their small Italian plates and pastas.

Todd English's most affordable restaurant, Figs offers pizza like no other you're likely to have ever eaten. Large, free-form creations are unique for two savory reasons: fresh, crispy flatbread crust and absolutely bizarre topping permutations (asparagus, wild mushroom purée, fontina cheese, figs, prosciutto...all on your pie!). With combos like this as well as others exploiting ham, chicken sausage, and more; vegetarians and meat-lovers alike will rejoice. Equally creative collages appear in a wide array of appetizers and pastas. A note of caution for would-be daters: the quaint location is pretty cramped, and you may be separated from your sweetie by barrier-like table-top trays upon which your pizza is served. No frills about it. That is how Emilio's runs their business. Good food cheap and fast. Consistency is the name of the game for this busy South End takeout and delivery spot. If you are looking for decent pizza at a decent price, you found your spot. From large salads stocked with freshly grilled chicken to calzones and sandwiches, Emilio's will not allow you to be hungry for long. Although not the best pizza pie around, it wins the prize for not letting people down. Emilio's has a small outdoor eating area for good weather.

Stellar Greek-style pizza and subs in the heart of this up-and-coming section of the South End. Greek pizza is generally less greasy and this pizza shop definitely delivers with their gourmet slices. Also, Alex Pizza offers an eclectic selection of atypical toppings like the Taco Pizza, Alfredo Chicken and the Alex Special. This cozy pizza joint also boasts homemade pasta including a tasty Lasagna Bolognese (with bechamel sauce) and Shrimp with broccoli. The decor, paying homage to ancient Greek motifs like Julius Caesar and Greek gods and goddesses, is welcoming and not overtly cheesy. It's a great, low-cost alternative that stands out in an area saturated with overpriced eateries.

IMHO this place has the best regular, 'old school' cheese pizza in Boston.

Ok, the name is a little weird. The original Cambridge, 1 is in the old Cambridge Fire Station #1 in Harvard Square. After Trilogy opened they started a second location here in the Fenway, but kept the name and the same menu. Known for thin-crust pizzas, there is a big seating area and also a good sized bar. When you walk in, you smell that wood smoke - ahh!

Just across the river from MIT and around the corner from Newbury, this neighborhood bar doesn't really take on the character of either of its “neighborhoods.” Though there's a leprechaun on the menu and Guinness on tap, Crossroads is more about American football on the big screen and fries with your burger ($6.50). Lots of specials encourage patrons to stay and eat and drink through the game. Free appetizers during football games, free wings Tu and Th 9-11pm, and pizza on W with every pitcher. Stop by during football games to munch on the free appetizers put out every quarter. Over 50 types of bottled beer and another 17 on tap (bottles $3.65-4.40, draft pints $3.50-4.60, draft pitchers $10.50-$13.75). No cover.

'Roads, as its called, is a true find. A real Boston Irish pub where you can relax, enjoy a drink, watch some sports or play darts. It's big with the locals and the college crowd. Cozy, friendly atmosphere with good but inexpensive food.

Open until 2, Despinas is one of the few places that stays open for the bar goer's late night snacks. Franko, a loyal employee for years, will serve you up a slice of Greek style pizza ($1.50)at this late-night pizza joint. There is always a game on the tv (and they serve beers just in case you want a topper) Try the chicken wings, fried crisp. They also have your typical casual food (mozz sticks, sub sandwhiches, pasta, and awesomely huge calzones). Don't go for 5-Star cuisine, go for good ol' grub food.

Cheap and delicious pizza, with a thin and crispy crust and a sauce that's slightly sweet. The slices are enormous (the equivalent of at least two average slices or 1/4 pie), so don't order a second one until you've finished the first (which had probably gotten cold by then anyway). Tons of different toppings, and unique choices such as Shrimp Scampi. People who don't like the tourist traps are drawn to 'mom and pop'-style places such as this. Most slices are under $3, so what's not to love? Bonus: beer and wine served. Every night: Get a 2.00 14 oz. Draft with Any Pizza Slice!

Stop in to do some eavesdropping on classic local Italian flavor from the neighborhood. This place is absolutely epic. Great lunches for cheap, and the place is usually packed. The Mangia Burger and fries is under $5.

Mangia Neapolitan Pizza is located in Brookline, MA and the South End. This South End location is on Columbus Ave. Mangia is known for their whole wheat pizza crust, as well as very fresh(and sometimes organic) veggies. which makes you feel like you are actually eating healthy pizza! Mangia has delivery for a $1.50 charge. Mangia is open at 4pm on Monday through Friday and 12pm on Saturday and Sunday.

Mary Baker Eddy founded the Church of Christ, Scientist (aka, the religion of Christian Science) which holds education as a basic tenant. This library building is a testament to this remarkable women. It includes exhibits, a shop, the Mapparium, Quotes Cafe and in the library both Reference and Research Rooms.

The Mapparium is a must-see for any visitor (or resident). A stained glass globe of the world - it's truly a wonder to behold. It's also fun to see how the world has changed since it was created. You need to buy a timed ticket for entry. The Quotes Cafe is a little-known spot - quiet and with really good food. The "Hall of Ideas" is really amazing, digital projected quotes on all sorts of topics move around the floor, walls and fountain.

To visit Mapparium and the upstairs exhibits there is a $6.00 admission fee ($4 for seniors/youth/students). But the Hall, shop and cafe can be accessed by anyone for free. Stop in on your next walk down Massachusetts Avenue.

Must try are the spicy mussels served in a tomato fennel stew with chorizo polenta. The mussels are spicy and the chorizo polenta is absolutely delicious. Napoli, topped with mozzarella, tomato, and basil. Each pie is named for a region; Italy has most-favored-nation status, but the Barcelona (fresh mozz with seasonal vegetables) and the Santorini (sun-dried tomatoes, broccoli rabe, mozzarella, and goat cheese) are nods to the restaurant's other influences. Another menu item is the open-face ravioli, mm now what could that be? long, wide ribbons of perfectly tender pasta in a mascarpone sauce alongside tomatoes, zucchini, shrimp, and scallops. oh my!!

The wine list is good, nice red or white reasonably priced; dessert -- a light cheesecake with raspberries, and something called chocolate pâté that's served with vanilla ice cream and caramel sauce -- hits the sweet spot.

Tremont House of Pizza is your typical pizza joint, but they also feature a number of seafood dishes. This one is very popular with Mission Hill's many college students. They are known for their very affordable prices, which is important since they are located in the college residence hub! Because they serve Greek-style pizza, their pizza crust is thin; if you are looking for a thicker crust, you may want to look elsewhere.

Ak's is across from Roxbury Crossing T Stop

Ak's Take-Out and Delivery is one of Mission Hill's hidden gems. While Ak's food wouldn't exactly fall into the gourmet category, they offer a huge array of pizza, subs, salads, and more that are kind to your tastebuds and your wallet. The pizza - the crust is thick and chewy, although the toppings, as with the calzones, are plentiful. The best part of these calzones are the size. They may seem a little expensive, but that is because the large is literally a giant pizza folded in half. They are massive and can last up to 3 days in leftovers due to volume. Their large subs start at about six dollars, while their large pizzas start at eight dollars. Ak's also has some excellent dinner packages that are, like their other fare, generously portioned and inexpensive. This is a great choice for any college student with a limited budget but a bottomless stomach, as their prices are much cheaper than their competitors and their portions are more than generous. The only downside to Ak's fantastic and fast delivery service is their minimum delivery of ten dollars, as well as an additional $1.50 charge for delivery. Ak's is open every day from 11 AM to Midnight. However, beware: There is no seating at the actual restaurant, so you'd do well to stick to takeout!

A local neighborhood jewel and hidden gem. Located on Columbus Ave. next to Giacomo's Restaurant, Anchovie's brings great Italian food and pizza to the South End at a fair price. You will not find a stuffy or trendy vibe here, only heaping bowls of penne, pizzas with the works, a full bar, and lively conversation from the regulars. A must have for the South End.

Enjoy the 3 Ps of college nightlife—pool, pizza, and pitchers—at this friendly pool hall and bar. Its a great place to start a night, either catching the big game on the plasma screens (Su-Th $4/hr before 6pm, $10/hr after 6pm; F-Sa $6/12)or starting some action of your own in one of the two full ballrooms of 21 champion-sized pool tables, which offer both the amateur and the shark a comfortable environment. $20 gets you an hour of pool, a 1-topping pie and a beer of your choice. A nice little place reminiscent of the North End, where you can dress up a little and get together with family and friends for good food and coffee. Proprietors Tony and Donna Oliviero will make sure that everyone feels welcome, and the atmosphere is very warm and casual. The front seating section is very nice with the open kitchen. Lots of politicians and well known people in the Italian American community come to dine there. John, the daytime espresso guy, makes a killer foamy brew. The lounge is a great place for an after-dinner drink. On a nice evening, top it all off with a leisurely stroll to Piers Park on Marginal Street. The views of Boston from there are truly magical. Located on the corner of Kilmarnock and Queensbury Street and next to Peterborough Street , Hidyan Cafe is a Middle Eastern restaurant that offers a wide variety of dishes. Entrees range from traditional American dishes - pizza, chicken fingers, subs - to less standard fare like falafels and kebobs. Their hummus garnishes many of the Middle Eastern dishes, and is a fantastic addition to any meal. Nothing on the menu is more than $15.00, and they offer more than 50 flavors for their frozen yogurt. They deliver, and if you're in a rush you can order online.

You will find this small 25 seat candlelit dining room with colorful walls and original artwork. Chefs and owners Patrick and Frank Mendoza serve up homemade pastas and gourmet pizzas with an imaginative twist. The trattoria is indeed quite small, and the tables are jam-packed in, but that just adds to the authentic North End experience.

In the summer, it's nice to sit by the open window and watch the world of Prince Street laze by as you drink white wine and eat bruschetta and pasta. In the winter, it's nice to sit next to the brick walls, drink chianti and enjoy the warmth and ambiance of the space. The only thing that's no good is the bread- it's really, truly awful.

This chic-ish restaurant was started by two sisters, and is decorated in exposed brick with very cool decor and lighting. Sort of off the beaten path, outside of the main foot traffic, and in the off season this place is desolate. This is the only restaurant in the area with a hip hop soundtrack. Consider this an upscale pizza restaurant, although better pizza can be found in the heart of the North End. I heard that big chefs and celebs like Peter Wolf and Steven Tyler are regulars, so there’s the added element of superstar sightings.

Making famous pizzas since 1986, Nicole's is known for their one of a kind pizza. Nicole's also cooks up some tasty chicken tenders and wings which come in numerous mouth watering flavors. It doesn't end there! Fresh salads, wraps, dinners and even home made baked goods.

They only have six tables, so it's odd to stand around there waiting for your food. The beverage cooler sports soda, octoberfest, sutter home and gatorade, something for everybody. The walls are decorated with framed pictures of Beirut and Boston.

Nicole's has been voted Boston and South End's best pizza, salads, falafels and cheap eats. Also Nicole's has appeared in numerous publications such as the South End News, Boston Phoenix and Boston Herald.

The food is always fresh with really generous portions and a reasonable price to match. You must try the Mac and Cheese, a must have on Weds and Friday. The staff is so friendly and they make you feel so at home. There is always leftovers.

Sicilia’s extensive menu, anyone can find what they are looking for. With three delicious types of pizza (stuffed, regular and thin crust), sandwiches, delicious pastas, soups, salads and even seafood, Sicilia’s couldn’t offer more choices. Their convenient location just past the BU bridge in BU’s West Campus (2 blocks up from the BU-West T stop on the right hand side facing downtown Boston) and delivery until 2 am makes them a great option any time of the day. Nice place also to sit down eat your delicious food and take full advantage of their free wifi.

With walls adorned with photos and paraphernalia from the BU Men’s Hockey team as well as other student groups, T anthony's Pizzeria is a favorite among BU students. Famous for it's sweet-sauced pizza and open until 2am, it's a great place to stop on your way back home after a long night out. If you're getting there after 1:30 am, however, don't expect to order anything hot. Only cold subs and beverages are available after 1:30 am. Breakfast is also available, with eggs served any way you like them, all day long! Note: Whenever BU's nearby Nickerson Field is hosting an event, lines can be ridiculous and don't count on finding parking.

Woody's offers terrific wood-fire oven pizzas, when you walk in you smell that slightly smoky smell from the oven. They also have salads and sandwiches for the non-pizza eating among us. A full bar occupies one side of the space. It's a great place to come to watch the game and eat and drink well while doing it. Because it's slightly out of the way, Woody's is great for lunch because you can always get a seat. That's not true on a weekend for dinner!

Woody's does not accept reservations or separate checks. They do have a 2 credit card maximum on each table.

Hip and happening, cool and fun: Stella is a great addition to the "foodie" world of the South End as it is not only a great place to dine: but the place to be seen as well. The scene is swanky, mod and high energy-not a place for a quiet dinner with grandma (unless she can swing with the in-crowd). You won’t be sorry if you start with the Beet and Goat Cheese appetizer. The menu is stacked with pasta and fish, flatbread pizzas and side dishes to die for. They do lunch, dinner and a fab brunch on the weekends. So throw on something cute and grab a glass of bubbly: Stella is here to stay.

A Mediterranean Cafe serving up Italian-American cuisine. The menu features a Kobe beef burger (a reasonable $12), traditional pizzas, lobster ravioli, autumn risotto, and a variety of entrees. The atmosphere is modern, sleek, and uppity with silver/white walls and sleek metal accents. The seats are a modernized cork- so that's what they do with the discarded wine corks!. The double sided mirror hides the enormous flat screen when it's not running the latest game.

This is a great new restaurant sure to have crowds gather. If you don't like the food, stick to the great bar drinks (Champagne, favorite fruit, favorite new cocktail- $10). A new favorite all around in the Back Bay...

Near the intersection of Massachusetts Avenue and Newbury Street Pizza Pie-er is a small establishment with an interesting menu. They've expanded the traditional pizza to have an array of crusts (4), sauces (10), and toppings (34). The crusts and sauces are the largest differentiators that you don't see at other establishments, and it's refreshing to see a focus on healthier fare as well (this includes items such as whole wheat or multigrain crusts). Plenty of veggie and meat options to please anyone in your crowd,

The staff is friendly, the tabletops resemble pizzas with lots of toppings, and the ambience is much more pleasant than you would assume from the location and the facade. When the other pizza options nearby can be greasy and college-infested, Pizza Pie-er makes for a cleaner, tastier option. Or dozens of options! Good for a quick bite on your way to the Berklee Performance Center, shopping on Newbury Street, or on your way down to the The Esplanade

or BU students (in between the BU Central Station and East T Stop)-with the overwhelming menu-you can almost get anything you want from pizza, gyros, veggie wraps, subs, shakes, pasta, burgers, etc. Although come prepared-they don't accept credit card and unfortunately for those of us who love having the food come to our doorstep-they don't deliver.

I stopped in to this Fort Point Channel hotspot on a recent Friday night, and it was packed full with a young, hip, lively crowd. Definitely the place to go if you want to ogle the beautiful people with your friends, drink and flirt while noshing upscale pub food. Artists and office workers alike frequent this place for the funky atmosphere and mini-hamburgers. There is no sign on the building, so you feel as though you're discovering a hidden gem, until you step inside and see how popular the place is. Look for the glowing red windows along the bottom of the building. Sunday brunch features live music.

Dress code: No hats, sneakers or athletic wear.

Tip: Public transportation to Fort Point Channel is scant. Parking is easy--try the All-Bright garage a half block away on Congress Street.

Picco (Stands for Pizza and Ice Cream Company) is a charming restaurant located in the South End on Tremont Street with delicious food and a lovely outdoor seating (when weather permits). The restaurant definitely has a pizza specialty but also serves a delicious chicken parmagiana sandwich, salads, home made pastas, and fish tacos. They serve ice cream as well, and have many flavors to choose from. The pizza is cooked in a flaming brick oven, that you can see from inside of the restaurant! The staff are friendly, and the food always tastes very fresh.

Here are a few 'nice to knows' about Picco: There is a $10.00 minimum on all charges. Delivery is free from 5-10pm everyday to the South End, Back Bay, and Bay Village. The whole menu is available for take-out and delivery. Reservations are only available for parties of 8 or more.

The Boston Globe praised the decor as "quaint, brightly lit, and secretly upscale", but dismissed the "charred yet underbaked" pizzas^[2]. The Phantom Gourmet was more enthusiastic, noting that "slices and scoops spare no expense with gourmet ingredients" and that the "retro décor evokes an old school ice cream parlor"^[3].

Fresh ingredients and a creative menu. Although sometimes hard to find on posh Newbury Street, Croma's prices are reasonable and rarely exceed $16 for an entree. Great place for a date night or dinner out with a friend.

Cappy's II is located on Huntington Ave, right near Northeastern University and New England Conservatory of Music campuses, and shouldn't be confused with Cappy's on the corner of Westland and Hemenway. They offer standard fare like pizza, calzones, subs, wraps, chicken meals, spaghetti, salads, burgers, club sandwiches, and sides like fries, onion rings, and garlic bread. Ciabatta bread is a new offering on the meal side as well.

Cappy's II also offers breakfast, like omelets, breakfast wraps, french toast, and sides like home fries and english muffins. They plan on adding bagels to the menu soon!

There's a few tables to eat inside, but they also deliver from 11 am to midnight, with a $7.00 minimum.

Penguin Pizza is your typical pizza shop. They serve up saucy, cheesy slices of goodness for a great price. Their menu also includes a variety of pastas, paninis, salads, and wraps.

Penguin Pizza is open Mon - Fri: 11am - 1am and Sat & Sun: 12pm - 1am. They will also delivery during the following hours: Mon-Fri 12pm-2pm, 4pm-10pm, Sat-Sun 4pm-10pm. Their website has a fax order form that you can download and fax in to them!

A great spot to check out if you are in the mood for a late night snack or meal.

Free pizza slice on Mondays when you order a drink, even if it's a diet soda. Need I say more? The pizza menu has a few options as well as make your own. The calzones are $10.50 with the choice of 4 ingredients/toppings in each. Beer and wine are served in a casual atmosphere replete with a bar and small tables. The windows of the restaurant open onto busy Salem St. Enjoy the relaxed bar scene, appetizers, and try the espresso martini.

Dine on pizza and pasta in this tiny place (just 10 tables) on a side street across from the Franklin Cafe. "Big dish" entrees, like sirloin, are very good, but it's the pizza and wine list, which owner Christine Didiuk updates constantly, that keep people coming back.

This restaurant is across from the Prudential Mall. Uno's in Uno's, there isn't much more to say about the chain deep-dish pizza place. The most interesting thing about this location, however, is that they now serve breakfast. It's basically an a-la-carte breakfast (cereal, croissants, coffee, tea, fruit) with a menu for things like eggs and pancakes.

It's your standard Uno's - can't beat the quick lunch (four different lunch specials!) and you can order on-line and just pop in to pick it up! The food is decently priced and generally tasty, and a good place to bring a bigger group--just call for reservations. They also have a larger function room for big parties.

There's an outdoor patio that's one of the only spots in the area to peoplewatch and have a drink off of Newbury Street--and their drinks are surprisingly good!

If you're on a sports team or in a student group looking for a way to make money, you can contact Uno's about a fundraiser evening: if you can bring in enough people to eat at Uno's and bring in a pre-made flyer with your gorup's name, you get 20% of the proceeds from those people's bills.

Still trying to figure out the difference between Uno and TGIF. Nice variety of your typical American food. Lunch specials are around 8.00 that can get you a decent sized sandwich and soup. Good thing about them: You can order online through their website and do curbside take-out.

Snug in the heart of Charlestown, Figs is a great destination for pizza and other Italian dishes. One of famed Todd English's restaurants.

Harvard Gardens is many things. For one, it is a local Beacon Hill haunt. During the day, a place where nearby MGH folk enjoy lunch. On the weekends, there is a brunch crowd. Dinner is served here featuring upscale comfort food and American favorites such a delectable pastas and delicate salads. However, the real Harvard Gardens is mostly known for it's great bar scene appreciated mostly by Beacon Hillers. Crammed into the long and narrow bar you will find a plethora of preppily clad 20 and 30 somethings looking for fun and someone fun. The bar is crowded, but the drinks are not that expensive. There is something here for everyone, just remember that unless you get there really early thursday - saturday- it is standing room only!

Homemade desserts like a Guinness float or a sinful "chocolate lovers" platter for two are worth a visit alone. With its location across t he street from MGH, the bar enjoys one of the highest ratios of doctors and nurses of any establishment in the city.

Joe V's is one of those typically great and under-rated neighborhood spots that you wish someone had told you about long ago. Popular with those who live in the South End neighborhood. Casual, comfortable, and unpretentious ... a great find since the South End continues to go increasingly upscale. Joe V's is good food at reasonable prices. While it is best known for pizza, there is plenty more on the menu.

Boston Magazine named Joe V's the winner of Best of Boston 2004 Neighborhood Restaurant, South End...saying "Joe V's has already shown that it can hold its own in a neighborhood crowded with great restaurants. The excellent food at reasonable prices ranges from thin-crust pizzas with a tangy, garlicky sauce, to confidently executed classics (lobster ravioli), while delicious brunch dishes (the South Beach omelet, with Egg Beaters, ham, and tomato) keep the locals dropping in all weekend long."^[4]

Boston House of Pizza, or more affectionately "BHOP" to area students, caters mainly to Northeastern and Colleges of the Fenway. One of the area's many sub and pizza places, BHOP offers basic, simple, plain pizza for the college crowd. Spicy curly fries are among their best offerings, as are chicken fingers. More seating here than at Cappy's or Cappy's II, and conveniently located

This popular (and reliable) restaurant chain is known for it's brick oven pizzas, pastas, and of course bread! This location is close to Children's Hospital, Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, Brigham and Women's Hospital, and a range of colleges. Particularly helpful for parents who have children in the hospital, this Berticci's is very accomodating and willing to meet your needs. They also offer takeout (for you to pick up). The only downside to this restaurant is that it is hiding within a research facility- so just look for Blackfan Circle across from Children's Hospital. Betucci's is open Sunday from 11am-9pm, and Monday through Saturday from 11am-10pm. Credit cards accepted include MasterCard, Visa, American Express, Discover and Diner's Club.

Who doesn't love Bertucci's?

One of a chain that originally started in Davis Square, Somerville. Serving brick oven baked pizzas, italian dishes, salads and those oh so yummy right out of the oven rolls.

Bertucci's may not recreate a North End-like atmosphere, but its convenient location and creative, top-notch brick-oven pizzas are nothing to scoff at. To attempt authenticity, try a large neapolitan thin-crust pizza ($18, good for 2 or 3 people; fight over the olive) or sample one of the many savory, generous pasta or meat entrees. The daily express lunch (11am-3pm) is a good way to get just as much quality (as well as free salad) for much less of your time and money (all entrees $8). Finally, a word about the hot rolls that come with meals: everyone loves them. The wait can be long—especially on weekend nights—-call ahead to put your name on the list. Additional locations in Cambridge and along the east coast. Entrees $8-18.

Cafe Porto Bello is an Italian restaurant offering a taste of Boston's historic North End in South Boston. Its authentic Tuscan menu with offerings like lobster ravioli in amaretto cream sauce, eggplant parmesan with marinara and pesto cream sauce and veal saltimbocca attract many patrons over and over again. Cafe Porto Bello offers a wide selection of appetizers, salads, pizza, pasta entrees, coffee and desserts and party platters. Appetizers range in price from $2.95 for the soup of the day to $10.95 for a traditional antipasto. Pizzas come in two sizes and start at $5.95. Entrees range from $12.95 to $17.95. Chacho's Pizza and Subs is a small pizza joint located in Mission Hill. They are known for their affordable prices, and serve up your basic pizza's and subs, as well as wings, and some ethnic items. If you are looking for a greasy slice of pepperoni pizza, and are in the neighborhood, you may want to check out Chacho's.

College Pizza is a Fenway area favorite for cheap, easy delivery. Aptly named, this pizza parlor caters almost exclusively to the neighborhood's large population of hungry college students. Their large pizzas start at $9.00 for plain, but do not exceed $13.00 unless multiple toppings are ordered. College pizza also offers inexpensive subs which start at $4.95 for a small as well as a generous selection of pita roll-ups starting at $5.00. The delivery at College Pizza is always free and tends to be very fast, but there is a $1 charge for all credit card orders. College Pizza does not have much in the way of indoor seating, but shares a quaint patio with its neighbor, Lilly's Gourmet Pasta Express.

If you want a reasonably-priced pizza, then Olympic is the place to be in South Boston. The restaurant offers several types of pizza in a variety of different sizes with a full array of toppings. They even offer a traditional olive oil toppping instead of marinara sauce. The restaurant is known both for its liberal use of cheese and its low prices. Also offered are fantastic salads that are huge and appetizers galore, including chicken fingers and chicken wings.

Adam's Pizza and Convenience Store is just that: a convenience store with a pizza shop inside. A little sketchy, and open late: Adam's draws a diverse crowd. However, he well serves the Faneuil Hall bar community at 2 am and serves slices at $2 a pop.

Originally named Alexander's Pizzas and Subs, it just recently changed its name but has the same great tasting food (subs are the best). Located next to Super 88, it's hard not to ignore this place and go to Super 88, but you won't be dissapointed.

One of a number of Cappy's establishments, this is where you go for a pizza, a sub (hot or cold), a calzone or a salad when you are in Jackson Square. Few tables inside, but it's mostly a take-out place.

This is more like a pizza/pasta/sandwich restaurant, but with classy North End atmosphere. The waitress is the sweetest thing, with her fiery magenta hair. Customers think that she's new every time she changes her hairstyle. "No, only my hair is new." she tells them with a smile. Rustic style Antipasto, Mussels, and Calamari are the traditional starters, and you can follow one of these up with Pumpkin Tortellini in a creamy marscapone sauce for $13. They serve a Puttanesca Pizza, as well as the Vongall Pizza (choice of red or white clam sauce) if you're feeling more daring ($10 for a small). For the carnivores, try the Grilled Lamb tips ($13) or Classic sirloin burger ($10).

Fresh City is on the Concourse Level of the Landmark Center,directly above Best Buy. This chain restaurant aims to be healthier than its fast food competitors while also providing a huge array of delicious choices. They have an ample salad bar that would satisfy even the most discerning of vegetarians, as well as some fare for the less calorie conscious eaters. Aside from leafy greens and veggies, Fresh City also offers sandwiches, stir fry, pizza, fried rice, breakfast items, as well as a smoothie bar. As their name suggests, Fresh City prides themselves in the quality of their ingredients and strives to offer as many organic and all-natural options as possible.
Fresh City also offers great catering for business meetings and other functions. Their sandwich platter is a great option when you have a lot of guests with dietary restriction or with finicky taste buds.
Online catering and personal orders can be made via their website, but tend to take longer to prepare than usual.

This is the spot that used to be Huntington Seafood (which was amazingly good and cheap) SO those of you who are still in mourning might need some reassurance that it is OK to still see these guys for your fried fix. Not the best fish & chips in town anymore but they are pretty stand up and the serving size is clearly not intended to skinny you up. Their burgers are impressive, nice big fatties, with bacon and all the fixins for $3.50 - not bad. The atmosphere is really bad, well boring, so unless you are in Brigham Circle and want to try them just get the delivery.

The menu doesn't deviate much from your standard pizza/sub/salad/crazy delicious appetizers. There's a nice assortment of wrap sandwiches if you feel like pretending to be healthy. Disregarding, of course, the fact that said wrap is stuffed fulla meat, sauce, and cheese with perhaps a smattering of veggies. Ditto for the salads. However, it's not entirely impossible to get something at least fairly healthy here, provided you're not totally ignorant about nutrition.

How about a warm slice of pizza on a cold winter day?

Typical pizza joint found in the heart of Allston's Harvard Avenue. A regular haunt for hungry college students longing for a late-night thin and crispy pizza pie delivered to their door. International Pizza & Subs also serves up Mexican favorites like burritos and tacos for those longing to spice up their dinner.
