Owned by Kohler, Baker, Knapp and Tubbs is a high-end furniture showroom located in the Boston Design Center. In business since the early twentieth century, Baker has consistently set a standard for high-style, luxurious furnishings with an emphasis on traditional upholstery, case goods and lighting. Also offered are a number of high-style transitional and contemporary collections by signature designers like Barbara Barry, Bill Sofield and Thomas Pheasant. The emphasis at Baker is on quality of construction, elegance of design and clarity of form. Whether you are looking for a chippendale dining chair, a plump down sofa or a mod chandelier made from murano glass, Baker will serve up a feast of luxury for you and your home. The showroom also represents a number of lines that it does not manufacture, like Charles Lighting and Jessica Charles. Pricing is a mixed bag. Less expensive lines like Jessica Charles are priced moderately, but Baker has no shortage of high-end, high price tag items if your budget permits. Chairs typically run above $2000, sofas above $4000 and you can even find lamps above $7000. For decades, Baker has been a resource for architects and interior designers, and it continues to be one.
